Weak Economy and Strong Currency - The Origins of the Strong Yen in the 1990s
During the 1990’s the Japanese yen proved astonishingly strong despite the persisting recession. This paper tracks the origins of the high yen. It analyses the influence of interest rates, prices and foreign exchange policy on the yen-dollar exchange rate. It comes to the conclusion that real interest differentials can only explain short-term exchange rate changes. Since prices have been exerting their influence on the Japanese currency in the long run, the high yen is explained with deflation. The massive foreign exchange interventions of the 1990’s were only able to stop the appreciation temporarily, if they were unsterilized, but they had no lasting effects.Japan, Yen, Yen/Dollar Exchange Rate, Foreign Exchange Intervention

Pig production and risk exposure: A case study in Hung Yen, Vietnam
The effects of direct and indirect input factors on pig productivity and its production risk in Hung Yen, Vietnam, were investigated. In using a moment-based approach, a Cobb-Douglas production function was applied to capturing mean, variance, and skewness effects. The results of this study showed that the expenditure for feed and time length of production reduced both the variation in productivity and downside risk, whereas an expanding production scale increased both the variation in productivity and downside risk

Assessment of tetracycline and fluoroquinolones residues in pork in Hung Yen province
Antibiotic residues in foods do not only affect consumers and public health but also affect the livestock industry. We studied the prevalence and concentration of Tetracycline and Fluoroquinolones groups in pork in Hung Yen. A total of 160 pork samples were collected and analyzed using HPLC and ELISA techniques. Results showed that 13/160 (12,31%) samples were positive to Tetracycline group, while Fluoroquinolones group was not found. The residual prevalence of Tetracycline, Oxytetracycline and Chlotetracycline were 3,75, 2,5 and 1,88%, respectively. An average residue concentration of Tetracycline group in pork was 133,72 (50,25-382,9) µg/kg. Compared with the maximum residual limits, two samples exceeded permissible standards of Vietnam and 6 samples exceeded the permitted level of the FAO/WHO and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). These findings underlines the situation and trends of antibiotic residues in Hung Yen in particular and in Vietnam in general. Therefore, the monitoring and management of safe and properly using antibiotics in animal husbandry and veterinary needs to be improved

Behaviors of farmers towards pig diseases in Hung Yen Province
This paper investigates disease situation and responses of farmers to pig diseases in Hung Yen province. Descriptive statistics, classification, comparison, T test and analysis of economic efficiency are utilized. It has been found that some common diseases occur more often at piglet weaning stage in comparison to other growth stages. When common diseases occur, farmers usually treat by themselves. Therefore, training on skills for diagnosis and treatment of common diseases should be offered for farmers. In addition, training to improve skills for local veterinarians should be also implemented because they do not only sell veterinary drugs to farmers but also give farmers technical advices. Propaganda and regulations to mitigate and prevent the sale of pigs died of diseases should be taken to limit the spread of disease in the local pig herds. In addition, a mass campaign to improve farmers’ disease preventive practices such as pig barn sanitation, vaccination and action to disease occurrence in the household and the commune should also be carried out
FACTORS CONSTRAINING BUSINESS PRODUCTIVITY IN THE DIGITAL ERA: EMPIRICAL RESEARCH AT HERTFORDSHIRE IN UK AND LESSONS FOR HUNG YEN PROVINCE IN VIETNAM
Productivity is a vital issue in businesses today. In the digital era, the economic, social, and technological environment is continuously changing. It is essential to find out what motivates and limits productivity. Hung Yen, Hung Yen, one of Hanoi's nearby provinces, enjoys spillover benefits from the capital city's development. However, Hung Yen has to face many difficult challenges from geographical location, infrastructure, and a shortage of high-quality human resources (people who tend to work and develop careers in the capital). Hertfordshire is a county adjacent to London, and suffers much the same challenges as Hung Yen, graduate skills mobility and productivity gaps in the STEM skilled sectors. The correlation in business development issues between Hertfordshire and London is similar to the one between Hung Yen and Hanoi, in growth, hard-to-fill skills vacancies and productivity. In recent years, Hertfordshire has made numerous achievements in economic development, and improved productivity growth. Therefore, the authors conducted an experimental study focusing on SMEs in Hertfordshire and influencing productivity factors. We have drawn lessons and empirically evaluated the ability to apply these to foster improvements in business productivity of SMEs located in the Hung Yen province
Rethinking Literature Field to Overseas Students of Hung Che Chen
[[abstract]]Hung Che Chen (1893-1976), with a pen name Sophia, obtained many “first” titles in her life—first batch government-supported female students from China to study in America, the first author to write Chinese vernacular fiction in the history of modern Chinese literature, and the first woman professor in Peking University. Hung Che Chen’s parents devote much attention to her education and nurtured this daughter to become a literate person. Hung Che Chen was being raised in such a literary family and understands well the importance of woman education. The family background has a great influence on her in her future hard work and contribution to promote woman higher education in China. Hung Che Chen was an active member of “The Chinese Students’ Quarterly” , an important magazine of America-Chinese students’, when she study in the US. “The Chinese Students’ Quarterly” is the first magazine that published the ideologies of May 4th Movement, but as it is hard to obtain, this magazine is rarely discussed today. This master's thesis tries to discuss and analyses all articles of Hung Che Chen that published in “The Chinese Students’ Quarterly” thematically. The three contentious novels as the first Chinese vernacular fiction in modern Chinese literature are “The Childe” by Yun Qin Liu (1884-1945), “One Day” by Hung Che Chen and “A Madman's Diary” by Lu Xun (1881-1936). In this discussion, Hung Che Chen’s work is comparable with Lu Xun’s “A Madman's Diary”. Hung Che Chen’s novel “Luo Qi Si’s problems” was known as the first feminism fiction in modern Chinese literature, reflected the controversial between carrier and family encountered by the high-educated women in modern time. When Hung Che Chen wrote this novel, she often made discussion with Hu Shih. The close relationship between two of them subjected to rumor that they have dubious relationship. This gossip even obstructed Hung Che Chen’s achievement in literature. When returned to China, Hung Che Chen wrote many articles for the periodical, especial in modern poetry, therefore this thesis will focus on the discussion of her poetries. Hung Che Chen had became the editor of “Nuli Weekly” and “Independent Review”.
