Modular transformations of admissible N = 2 and Affine sl(2|1;C) characters
This thesis is a study of the affine super-algebra sl(2|l; C) and N = 2 superconformal algebra at fractional levels. In the first chapter we review background material on Conformal Field Theory, and how it appears in the context of string theory and the Wess - Zumino – Novikov - Witten model. We also discuss integrable and admissible representations of infinite dimensional algebras and their modular transformations. In Chapter 2 we elaborate some more on modular transformations and we derive them in the case of non - unitary minimal N = 2 characters. Some very explicit formulas are presented. In Chapter 3 we discuss character formulas for the affine sl(2|l;C) algebra and some of their general properties are given, in particular their behaviour under spectral flow. In Chapter 4 we turn to the study of sumrules for sl(2|l;C) at level k. These involve the product of sl(2) characters at level k, k', and 1 with {k + l){k' + !) = 1. We consider k + 1 = for = 1, p e Z*, u eN and show that the sumruleswe have obtained agree with the literature when the parameter p is restricted to p = 1. We use the integral form of the sumrules to study the modular properties of sl(2|l) characters at fractional level in the last section of Chapter 4.The advisor for this work has been Dr. Anne Taormina
Silencing Sl-EBF1 and Sl-EBF2 expression causes constitutive ethylene response phenotype, accelerated plant senescence, and fruit ripening in tomato
The hormone ethylene regulates a wide range of plant developmental processes and EBF (EIN3-binding F-box) proteins were shown to negatively regulate the ethylene signalling pathway via mediating the degradation of EIN3/EIL proteins. The present study reports on the identification of two tomato F-box genes, Sl-EBF1 and Sl-EBF2 from the EBF subfamily. The two genes display contrasting expression patterns in reproductive and vegetative tissues and in response to ethylene and auxin treatment. Sl-EBF1 and Sl-EBF2 genes are actively regulated at crucial stages in the development of the reproductive organs. Their dynamic expression in flowers during bud-to-anthesis and anthesis-to-post-anthesis transitions, and at the onset of fruit ripening, suggests their role in situations where ethylene is required for stimulating flower opening and triggering fruit ripening. VIGS-mediated silencing of a single tomato EBF gene uncovered a compensation mechanism that tends to maintain a threshold level of Sl-EBF expression via enhancing the expression of the second Sl-EBF gene. In line with this compensation, tomato plants silenced for either of the Sl-EBF genes were indistinguishable from control plants, indicating functional redundancy among Sl-EBF genes. By contrast, co-silencing of both Sl-EBFs resulted in ethylene-associated phenotypes. While reports on EBF genes to date have focused on their role in modulating ethylene responses in Arabidopsis, the present study uncovered their role in regulating crucial stages of flower and fruit development in tomato. The data support the hypothesis that protein degradation via the ubiquitin/26S proteasome pathway is a control point of fruit ripening and open new leads for engineering fruit quality
SIFAT-SIFAT DASAR INTEGRAL SL DI RUANG RIESZ YANG LENGKAP DEDEKIND Rizki Pramasta
Starting from a partially ordered vector space, defined Riesz space that certain condition. Similarly defined Riesz space which has a supremum in every non-empty subset is bounded from above, hereinafter this space is called Dedekind complete Riesz space. Based on these definitions, introduced the concept of (SL)-integral in Dedekind complete Riesz space as well as the basic properties that apply. Besides that, also introduced (SL)-function or function has property (SL) as a primitive function of the function is (SL)-integrable.
Keywords : Dedekind complete Riesz space, (SL)-integral, (SL)-function
Bi-Yang-Baxter Models and Sl(2)-orbits
We study integrable deformations of two-dimensional non-linear sigma-models and present a new class of classical solutions to critical bi-Yang-Baxter models for general groups. For the simplest example, namely the SL(2,R) bi-Yang-Baxter model, we show that our solutions can be mapped to the known complex uniton solutions of the SU(2) bi-Yang-Baxter model. In general, our solutions are constructed from so-called Sl(2)-orbits that play a central role in the study of asymptotic Hodge theory. This provides further evidence for a close relation between integrable non-linear sigma-models and the mathematical principles underlying Hodge theory. We have also included a basic introduction to the relevant aspects of asymptotic Hodge theory and have provided some simple examples
