(A) Study & Exegesis on Shi-yi-ji (拾遺記)
No full text本稿는 魏晉 南北朝의 志怪로서 後代 文學에 많은 영향을 끼친 ≪拾遺記≫를 대상으로 하여, 선행작업으로 작품을 完譯하고, 中國 小說의 발생과정 및 장르론적 문제에 관심을 두고 ≪拾遺記≫의 素材的인 價値와 內容 및 形式 전반에 대한 고찰을 하였다.
제 1부의 1장에서는 ≪拾遺記≫의 장르적 문제를 논의하였는데, 전통적 개념에 따르면 ≪拾遺記≫는 志怪로 분류된다. 그러나 이전의 이야기들에 비해 분량이 길어지고 소재의 범위도 넓어 졌으며, 신화적 기반 위에 당시의 자유로운 관념들과 인간중심의 이야기가 전개됨으로써, 일반 지괴와 차이를 보여준다.
2장에서는 ≪拾遺記≫의 作家와 版本을 살펴 보았다. 晉代의 方士인 王嘉가 撰한 이 책은 原文이 散失된 후 梁나라 蕭綺가 편집하여 錄을 덧붙였으며, 今本은 10卷本의 완정한 版本인 것으로 추측된다.
3장에서는 歷史와 小說 간의 상호관계를 살피고, 그로 인해 雜史類와 小說類로 각각 분류되어 왔던 ≪拾遺記≫에 대한 여러 평가들을 소개하였다. 宋代에 이르는 시기까지 ≪拾遺記≫는 주로 歷史書로서 해석되었으며, 明ㆍ淸대에 이르면 대부분의 경우 小說로 평가된다.
4장에서는 ≪拾遺記≫의 내용과 형식을 분석하였다. ≪拾遺記≫는 신화와 역사적인 요소가 유기적으로 배합된 위에 고대인의 풍속과 민간신앙은 물론 당시에 신봉되던 五德 終始說 및 道家的인 幻想 및 儒家의 忠孝思想등이 혼합되어 있다. ≪拾遺記≫의 내용은 4가지 범주로 분류될 수 있는데, 신화적인 인물, 역사적인 인물, 異方, 초자연적 現狀 및 宮觀이 작품 내용의 대부분을 이룬다. ≪拾遺記≫의 가장 두드러진 형식은 역사서술 방식인 編年體로 씌여져 있다는 점이다. 이러한 역사서술 방식은 魏晉 南北朝시대에 유행하던 개인의 史傳文 창작 풍조와도 관련이 있으며, 正史와 같은 이미지를 부여하여 정통성을 획득하는데 기여하고 있다. 또한 ≪拾遺記≫는 敍事 부분과 論評의 성격인 <錄>이 결합되어 있는데 이것은 史傳文學의 論評과 긴밀한 연관성을 지닌다. 그리고 다양한 서술 형태들이 나타나고 있어 진실로부터 허구로 이행해가는 소설의 변모과정을 제시해 준다. 즉, 사물을 설명하는 단순한 陳述, 상황이나 감정을 응축시켜 나타내는 韻文式 표현, 상황을 장면처럼 제시하는 생생한 描寫, 散文體裁의 평이하고 무미건조함을 벗어나 현장감을 배가시키는 直接話法과 對話體 등이 혼용되고 있다.
제 2부에서는 ≪拾遺記≫ 전체를 현대어로 완역하였는데, 底本으로는 齊治平이 校注한 ≪拾遺記≫(臺北 : 中華書局, 1981)와 ≪漢魏叢書≫本 및 孟慶祥과 商□妹의 역주본(중국, 흑룡강인민출판사, 1988)을 사용했다.
요컨대, ≪拾遺記≫는 방대한 시공간을 배경으로 신화와 전설, 기이한 사물들을 소재로 하였지만, 역사적 인물들을 등장시켜 작가의 정치적인 풍자성을 통해 재구성하였고, 형식에 있어서도 다양한 서술 방식이 나타나 산문서사에서 소설로 발전해가는 교량적인 특성을 보여준다. ≪拾遺記≫는 이후 중국문화 각 장르의 素材的인 원천이 되어, 唐宋 傳記와 變文, 宋元話本 및 戱曲, 明淸 文言小說 등에 다양하게 영향을 주었다.;My thesis examines Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) of Wei Jin Nan Bei Chao era(魏晉南北朝)'s Zhi-guai(志怪) which had enormous amount of impact on the later Chinese literature. In the beginning, I started with the translation of Shk-yi-ji(拾遺記) and elaborated on the developing progress of Chinese fictions and the questions of its Genre to find out the values in general terms.
In the first section of chapter one, I have discussed about the questions of its Genre. According to the traditional thoughts, Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) is considered a part of Zhi-guai(志怪). However, when it is compared to the earlier Chi-Kuai(志怪), the length of the story and its elements on human values and other various liberal thought of the era underneath the mythological aspects are the evidences that deviates from the common Zhi-guai(志怪). Thus, it is quite different from a typical Chi-Kuai(志怪).
In the second section of chapter one, I examined the author and different editions of Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記). Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) is originally written by a taoist from Qin(秦) named Wang-jia(王嘉). After the original scripts had disappeared, Xiaoqi(蕭綺) of Liang(錄) compiled the remaining scripts and added the Lu(錄). Tbis edition is composed of ten books but the original collections are allegedly reported to have nineteen books.
In the third section of chapter one, I searched for the relationship between historical values and fictional aspects by introducing various evaluations of Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記). Up until Sui, tang and Song (隋唐宋)dynasties, Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) was considered as a historical reference, but it gained the fictional value during Ming(明) and Qing(淸) dynasties.
In the fourth section of the chapter one, I analysed details and farms of Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記). Although the basic structure of Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) is a mixture of myths and historical values, it also broadly covers the peculiar customs of ancient people, the local religion, the taoism, and the filial-piety of the Confucianism. The story of Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) can be largely divided into four sections: myducal and historical characters, the foreign territories, the super-natural phenomenants and the architectures. One interesting note about Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) is that it is written in chronological order to reflect the makings of personal historical references- the wide-spreaded trend of Wei Jin Nan Bei Chao(魏晉南北朝) era. And this is the reason why some people consider Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) as a form of authentic historical reference. This significant fact allows us to know the transition of the Chinese literature which took place in a large degree. The evidents which support this transition is the compressed poetic styled in-notes inserted between stories to describe the emotions and the circumstances of stories and characters. Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) also contains dialoges to increase realistical description of the story.
In chapter two, I translated whole collections into modem language by using following books as the references. They are Hanweicongshu<漢魏叢書>本, Qi-zhi-ping<齊治平>本 , 孟慶祥本. In general, Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) not only covers the wide range of time period to describe myths and legends as its background, but also introduces many historical characters to show the author's unique satire of the comtemporary political system. Therefore, this particular approach gave Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) a medium role on transition from the prose-narrative to the fiction style.
For all those reasons I described above, Shi-yi-ji(拾遺記) had set a milestone on the later Chinese literature to influence fictions like Tang and Song Chuan-ji(唐宋 傳記) and Bian-wen(變文), and Hua-ben of Song-yuan(宋元 話本).목차 = ⅰ
