Couple stress effects in a thin film bonded to a half-space
This study investigates the contact mechanics of a thin film laying on an elastic substrate within the context of couple-stress elasticity. It aims to introduce the effects of material internal length scale, which has proven an effective way of modeling structures at micro to nano-scales, allowing to capture their size dependent behavior. Specifically, stress analysis for a thin film bonded to a couple stress elastic half-space is considered under plane strain loading conditions by assuming that both shear stress and couple tractions are exchanged between the thin film and the substrate. The problem is converted to a singular integral equation, which is solved by expanding the shear stress tractions as a Chebyshev series. The results show that the introduction of couple tractions decreases the shear stress tractions and the axial load in the thin film. When the characteristic length is sufficiently small, but still finite, the results for classical elastic behavior are approached
The present work documents and gathers the most relevant records of the organic-walled dinoflagellate cysts from different sites of the Neuquén and Austral Basins. Most of these records have contributed to the palaeoenvironmental, biostratigraphical and palaeobiogeographical interpretations of the different stratigraphical units in both basins. The dinoflagellate cysts assemblages come from the Springhill, Upper Rio Mayer, Piedra Clavada, Kachaike and Margas Verdes Formation of the Austral Basin and, from the upper part of the Vaca Muerta Formation and the Agrio Formation of the Neuquen Basin, several of these stratigraphical units conform the main petroleum systems in both basins.Fil: Guler, Maria Veronica. Characterizations Of The Barrier Parameter Of Homogeneous Convex Cones
We characterize the barrier parameter of the optimal self--concordant barriers for homogeneous cones. In particular, we prove that for homogeneous convex cones this parameter is the same as the rank of the corresponding Siegel domain and also the same as the Carath'eodory number of the cone. Digital Hadron Calorimetry
2021 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference, NSS/MIC 2021 -- 16 October 2021 through 23 October 2021 -- 182674Calorimeters that can fully exploit the power of Particle Flow Algorithms, which attempt to measure each particle in a hadronic jet individually, emphasize spatial granularity over single particle energy resolution. In this context, the CALICE collaboration developed the Digital Hadron Calorimeter. The Digital Hadron Calorimeter uses Resistive Plate Chambers as active media and is read out with 1 x 1 cm2 pads and digital (1-bit) resolution. The Digital Hadron Calorimeter went through a broad beam test program over several years to yield a unique dataset of electromagnetic and hadronic interactions with unprecedented spatial resolution. In addition to conventional calorimetry, the Digital Hadron Calorimeter offers detailed measurements of event shapes, rigorous tests of simulation models and various analytical tools to improve calorimetric performance. Here we report on the results from the analysis of DHCAL data and comparisons with the Monte Carlo simulations across various test campaigns. © 2021 IEEE.B. Bilki and Y. 4 DOFs hollow soft pneumatic actuator – HOSE
This study reports a novel Hollow Soft Pneumatic Actuator (HOSE), which exhibits 4 degrees of freedom (DOFs). The design consists of a central hollow cylinder surrounded by four twisting symmetric chambers. By virtue of their spiral disposition, each chamber produces a diagonal force along the hollow internal cylinder composed of two components: one parallel to the Z axis and the other one to the plane X-Y. Both top and bottom sections of the actuator are reinforced to avoid deformation, essential for optimal function and dexterity of HOSE. Different movements of the actuator are produced by varying the activation combinations of the 4 chambers. They are constructed from thin walled (0.5 mm) Ecoflex 00-30 super soft silicon rubber, enabling HOSE to perform controlled movements with low pressure not exceeding 35 kPa.HOSE exhibits a maximal extension of 230% of its original length, bends up to i) ±90° around X axis, ii) ±115° around Yaxis, and iii) twists around Z axis with a total range of ±35°. The paper describes the manufacturing process together withthe actuator performance, reporting the range of motion along each DOF related to the internal pressure, volume vs. forces and torques produced along each axis

Neogene palynology of the Cx-1 well, Colorado Basin, Argentina
Se propone una nueva combinación: Equisetosporites fusiformis (Shakmundes) comb. nov.[Neogene palynology of the Cx-1 well, Colorado Basin, Argentina]. Abundant and diverse paly-nological assemblages characterize the Neogene marine section in the Cx-1 well, offshore Colorado Basin. The dominance of well-preserved pollen and spores as well as the presence of chlorococcaleans algae, together with the scarcity of dinoflagellate cysts, suggests that these deposits accumulated in marine shallow waters near the shoreline. The sporomophs content reflects the type of vegetation growing in the vicinity of the depositional basin. The palynological assemblages indicate a paleoevi¬ronmental change related to a drop of sea level during the Late Miocene. This paper contains syste¬matic descriptions of 39 spores and pollen species recovered from the studied interval. A new combination, Equisetosporites fusiformis (Shakmundes) com. nov. is here proposed.Fil: Guler, Maria Veronica. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas.
