No full textSe presenta el alcance de la investigación internacional en Alfabetización en Información (ALFIN)entre los años 1990 y 2005 a partir del análisis de las publicaciones recogidas en tres de las principales bases de datos internacionales que cubren el tema: LISA, ERIC y SSCI. Se ha analizado la actividad investigadora del periodo, la tipología documental, idioma, autores más productivos y revistas más
utilizadas. Por otro lado, y a través de una metodología de análisis de contenido, se han categorizado los trabajos de los diez autores más productivos, encontrando en ellos la progresión temática lógica de un área en desarrollo. Otros resultados indican el predominio de trabajos anglosajones así como el incremento exponencial de la producción a lo largo del periodo estudiado.Publicad

No full textInterleukin-1β (IL-1β) is a key protein in inflammation and contributes to tumor progression. However, the role of IL-1β in cancer is ambiguous or even contradictory due to its pro- and antitumor potential. Here, we found that upon IL-1β stimulation, nicotinamide nucleotide transhydrogenase (NNT) in cancer cells is acetylated at lysine (K) 1042 (NNT K1042ac) and thereby induces the mitochondrial translocation of p300/CBP-associated factor (PCAF). This acetylation enhances NNT activity by increasing the binding affinity of NNT for NADP+ and therefore boosts NADPH production, which subsequently sustains sufficient iron–sulfur cluster maintenance and protects tumor cells from ferroptosis. Abrogating NNT K1042 acetylation dramatically attenuates IL-1β-promoted tumor immune evasion and synergizes with PD-1 blockade. In addition, NNT K1042ac is associated with IL-1β expression and the prognosis of human gastric cancer. Our findings demonstrate a novel mechanism of IL-1β-promoted tumor immune evasion through which tumor cell metabolism is regulated, implicating the therapeutic potential of disrupting the link between IL-1β and tumor cells by inhibiting NNT acetylation.This is the original data set for the study that contains all of the unprocessed microscopy images, gels, western blots used in this study
Designing bidding strategies in sequential auctions for risk averse agents
No full textDesigning efficient bidding strategies for sequential auctions represents an important, open problem area in agent-mediated electronic markets. In existing literature, a variety of bidding strategies have been proposed and have been shown to perform with varying degrees of efficiency. However, most of strategies proposed so far do not explicitly model bidders attitudes towards risk which, in mainstream economic literature, is considered an essential attribute in modeling agent preferences and decision making under uncertainty. This paper studies the effect that risk profiles (modeled through the standard Arrow-Pratt risk aversion measure), have on the bidders strategies in sequential auctions. First, the sequential decision process involved in bidding is modeled as a Markov Decision Process. Then, the effect that a bidders risk aversion has on her decision theoretic optimal bidding policy is analyzed, for a category of expectations of future price distributions. This analysis is performed separately for the case of first price and second-price sequential auctions. Next, the bidding strategies developed above are simulated, in order to study the effect that an agents risk aversion has on the chances of winning a set of complementary-valued items. The paper concludes with an experimental study of how the presence of risk-averse bidders affects both bidder profits and auctioneer revenue, for different market scenarios of increasing complexity

No full textEl impacto que tiene los cambios de temperatura a la tierra traen una serie de consecuencia principalmente afecta a las latitudes norte superiores; además se observa que la regiones terrestres se han calentado más rápido que los océanos, estos juegan un papel central en el clima por su capacidad de almacenar, transportar y liberar grandes cantidades de calor mediante sus interacciones con la atmósfera y con los suelos. Las consecuencia que tiene estos cambios de temperatura: es el aumento del mar, sequía, enfermedades por parte de insectos y animales. En El Salvador las acciones de mitigación que se están tomando para reducir este gran impacto son las siguientes: crear programas para la deforestación y degradación de bosques , tener buen uso de la energía, programa de manejo de desechos sólidos entre otros; para que todos estos proyectos se lleven a cabo se han creado leyes y reformas para garantizar su desarrollo

The relationship between civic attitudes and voting intention : an analysis of vocational upper secondary schools in England and Singapore
No full textFrom 2009 to 2011, a team from the Centre for Learning and Life Chances in Knowledge Economies and Societies carried out a mixedmethods study of young people in England and Singapore. With regard to civic attitudes, the study showed that there was a greater sense of political self-efficacy and collective (school) efficacy in Singapore than in England. In addition, the group in Singapore scored higher on future voting relative to the group in England. Further, while both political self-efficacy and collective (school) efficacy were correlated with future voting in England, only the latter was correlated in the case of Singapore. For some, the results may seem counter-intuitive. The article reflects on these results, particularly those relating to democratic outcomes
