    Noncontinuous Super-Diffusive Dynamics of a Light-Activated Nanobottle Motor

    We report a carbonaceous nanobottle (CNB) motor for near infrared (NIR) light‐driven jet propulsion. The bottle structure of the CNB motor is fabricated by soft‐template‐based polymerization. Upon illumination with NIR light, the photothermal effect of the CNB motor carbon shell causes a rapid increase in the temperature of the water inside the nanobottle and thus the ejection of the heated fluid from the open neck, which propels the CNB motor. The occurrence of an explosion, the on/off motion, and the swing behavior of the CNB motor can be modulated by adjusting the NIR light source. Moreover, we simulated the physical field distribution (temperature, fluid velocity, and pressure) of the CNB motor to demonstrate the mechanism of NIR light‐driven jet propulsion. This NIR light‐powered CNB motor exhibits fuel‐free propulsion and control of the swimming velocity by external light and has great potential for future biomedical applications

    The Tax Disadvantage Of Ordinary Income: An Event Study On The Legislative Process Of JGTRRA

    The Jobs Growth and Tax ReliefReconciliation Act of 2003 (JGTRRA), signed into law by President George W.Bush, was a significant legislation in recent tax history.  As the tax rates on capital gains anddividends are reduced to a historical low of 15%, U.S. stock prices haveincreased and the cost of equity capital declined after its passage.  In contrast to the dividends and capital gainsthat receive preferential tax rates under JGTRRA, yields from U.S. Treasurybill remain tax-disadvantaged as ordinary income at a top marginal rate of 35%. Using an event study approach based ontwo years of Treasury yield observations, the author examines Treasury yield reactionsto major legislative events surrounding the passage of JGTRRA.  The result suggests that a tax policyintentionally favoring dividends and capital gains over ordinary income may unintentionallypush up yields in the Treasury bill market, thereby affecting the cost ofgovernment borrowing

    The article considers the features of creation and development of organizational systems of technology transfer in the BRICS member countries (Brazil, Russian Federation, India, China, South Africa), interaction of participants in the innovation process. The author identifies the significant role of the regional component in the formation of effective national innovation systems. The purpose of the article is to analyze the national innovation systems of the BRICS member countries, since each of these countries has gone its own way of innovative development, justified by regional characteristics. Based on the analysis of transfer systems operating in the BRICS countries, the author identifies key and most promising areas for the development of the integration of the scientific and educational, production spheres and the state in order to form special mechanisms for organizing innovative processes that ensure effective interaction between all its participants, contributing to the formation of competitive high-tech products

    Based on the rapid development of ultra-supercritical coal-fired units in China, by using material upshift and innovative structural design, such as double barrel cylinder, to improve the steam turbine high pressure and high temperature capability, by using the thermodynamic system optimization and high efficient flow technology to further improve the economy of steam turbine, DongFang has successfully developed a new generation of steam turbine, the parameters reach 35MPa / 615°C/ 630°C/630°C, heat consumption is lower than 6800 kJ/kWh, the generating efficiency of power plant exceeds 50%. This paper also introduces some technical development of future high-efficiency steam turbines at 650°C and 700°C.</jats:p

    The Mechanochemical Synthesis and Activation of Carbon-Rich π-Conjugated Materials

    Mechanochemistry uses mechanical force to break, form, and manipulate chemical bonds to achieve functional transformations and syntheses. Over the last years, many innovative applications of mechanochemistry have been developed. Specifically for the synthesis and activation of carbon‐rich π‐conjugated materials, mechanochemistry offers reaction pathways that either are inaccessible with other stimuli, such as light and heat, or improve reaction yields, energy consumption, and substrate scope. Therefore, this review summarizes the recent advances in this research field combining the viewpoints of polymer and trituration mechanochemistry. The highlighted mechanochemical transformations include π‐conjugated materials as optical force probes, the force‐induced release of small dye molecules, and the mechanochemical synthesis of polyacetylene, carbon allotropes, and other π‐conjugated materials
