    Ammonia Electrosynthesis with High Selectivity under Ambient Conditions via a Li<sup>+</sup> Incorporation Strategy

    We report the discovery of a dramatically enhanced N2 electroreduction reaction (NRR) selectivity under ambient conditions via the Li+ incorporation into poly(N-ethyl-benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylic diimide) (PEBCD) as a catalyst. The detailed electrochemical evaluation and density functional theory calculations showed that Li+ association with the O atoms in the PEBCD matrix can retard the HER process and can facilitate the adsorption of N2 to afford a high potential scope for the NRR process to proceed in the "[O-Li+]·N2-Hx" alternating hydrogenation mode.     We show that a preference domain is single-crossing and maximal Condorcet if and only if it can be represented as a relay, a structure that is simple to construct and verify. Using this characterization, we find that there are at most two domains that are single-crossing and maximal Condorcet, and we also find another characterization of such domains in terms of inversion triples.</p

    Resilience assessment of asphalt pavement rutting under climate change

    The service performances of asphalt pavement, especially rutting, will be inevitably affected by climate change. However, existing studies have generally focused on the rutting depth and rutting life, and thus became insufficient for comprehensively evaluating the influence of climate change on rutting over the service life. A resilience assessment method for asphalt pavement rutting is developed to solve the above problem. First, the original resilience method is extended to fit the system whose performance level continues to decline. Then, the calculation formulas of rutting resilience are derived by combining the rutting prediction model and the level assessment model. Subsequently, the influence degrees of climate change in representative cities on rutting resilience are studied. The results suggest that neglecting climate change in rutting design of asphalt pavement will lead to insufficient resilience, especially in northern China.     Pricing timer options: second-order multiscale stochastic volatility asymptotics

    We study the pricing of timer options in a class of stochastic volatility models, where the volatility is driven by two diffusions—one fast mean-reverting and the other slowly varying. Employing singular and regular perturbation techniques, full second-order asymptotics of the option price are established. In addition, we investigate an implied volatility in terms of effective maturity for the timer options, and derive its second-order expansion based on our pricing asymptotics. A numerical experiment shows that the price approximation formula has a high level of accuracy, and the implied volatility in terms of its effective maturity is illustrated. doi:10.1017/S144618112100024
