Leading chiral logarithms of KS→γγ and KS→γl+l− at two loops
AbstractWe obtain the leading divergences at two-loop order for the decays KS→γγ and KS→γl+l− using only one-loop diagrams. We then find the double chiral logarithmic corrections to the decay branching ratio of KS→γγ and to the decay rate for KS→γl+l−. It turns out that these effects are numerically small and therefore make a very small enhancement on the branching ratio and decay rate. We also derive an expression for the corrections of type logμ×LEC. Numerical analysis done for the process KS→γγ shows that these single logarithmic effects can be sizable but come with opposite signs with respect to the double chiral logarithms

Stacking sequence optimization of laminated plates
Optimum fiber orientations of laminated composite plates for the maximum strength are found under multiple inplane loading conditions. Tsai-Wu failure criterion is taken as objective function. Based on the state space method, effective optimal design formulation is developed and solution procedure is described with the emphasis on the method of calculations of the design sensitivities. Numerical results are presented for the several test problems. © 1998 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.1124Nsciescopu
Particle collision statistics in turbulent flows with kinematic simulation
Colliding droplets or particles in turbulent flows are important in applications ranging from rain formation in clouds to aerosol production in process engineering. To reduce the computational costs when simulating such flows, kinematic simulation (KS) is frequently applied as a cheap surrogate for direct numerical simulation (DNS) of the turbulent flow field. In this work, we provide for the first time a systematic validation of the particle collision statistics that result from KS. We show that while the particle collision frequencies for particles with different Stokes numbers are in good agreement with DNS reference data, a more detailed inspection of the flow field and particle concentration characteristics reveals significant differences between KS and DNS
Wychowanie człowieka uczciwego jako społeczna misja Kościoła w myśli błogosławionego ks. Bronisława Markiewicza (1842–1912)
Education to honesty should be based on giving a good example by Catholics, building organizations and associations, which in practice would take joint responsibility for public life. The church was and is a teacher of society. The article aims to show some aspects of the Church’s responsibility in the education of the society to honesty on the example of Blessed Fr. Bronisław Markiewicz. Fr. Markiewicz knew that the witness of Christian life has enormous power and is able to rebuild whole societies. The author shows in his article that religion – according to Fr. B. Markiewicz - is a value that fosters integrity, motivates and enriches the human personality, leading the way and directions for universal and fundamental values , including patriotic and civic ones.

Correlation between Colloidal Stability and Surfactant Adsorption/Association Phenomena Studied by Light Scattering
The stability of a colloidal system composed of styrene-acrylate copolymer particles and potassium stearate (KS) anionic surfactant molecules has been determined in terms of the Fuchs stability ratio, W, as a function of the surfactant concentration, by measuring the initial aggregation kinetics using the small-angle light scattering (SALS) technique. The structure of the particle surface is peculiar, being irregularly patterned, and thus represents a model system to investigate colloidal stability of nonsmooth colloidal particles. From the SALS kinetic experiments, it is found that the stability increases dramatically with KS concentration until the saturation of the available surface occurs. At concentrations higher than the saturation concentration, the W value decreases markedly with KS, as a consequence of attractive depletion forces induced by formation of micelles in the water phase. The adsorption isotherm, determined through the surface tension technique, agrees with the W vs KS behavior, with respect to the onset of saturation and the surface-per-molecule value, and it can be described by the two-step Langmuir isotherm. Static light scattering spectra of the particles at different adsorbed amounts of KS have been fitted by means of the Lorenz-Mie theory and accounting for the experimentally determined particle size distribution. The increase in the particle diameter imputable to KS adsorption is sizable. Stability data measured under high fluid shear in a turbulent capillary (in the absence of any screening salt) fit well into this scenario. However, depletion forces are shown to be noncooperative with turbulent shear in the absence of screening electrolytes
Fail-are of carbon/epoxy composite tubes under combined axial and torsional loading 1. Experimental results and prediction of biaxial strength by the use of neural networks
Biaxial tests have been conducted on cross-ply carbon/epoxy composite tube under combined torsion and axial tension/compression up to failure. Strength properties and distributions were evaluated with reference to the biaxial loading ratio. The scatter of the biaxial strength data was analyzed by using a Weibull distribution function. Artificial neural networks were introduced to pre diet failure strength by means of the error back-propagation algorithm for learning, providing a different and new approach to the representation of complicated behavior of composite materials. further prediction is made from experimental data by the use of Tsai-Wu theory and a combined optimized tensor polynomial theory. Comparison shows that the artificial neural network has the smallest root-mean-square error of the three prediction methods. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.X1139sciescopu
