Partner Colleges Learning and Teaching Project (Summary Report)
The Institute of Sport & Exercise Science (ISES) at the University of Worcester (UW) works in partnership with Stourbridge College, Worcester College of Technology and Herefordshire College of Technology (Holme Lacy campus) to provide Higher National Diploma (HND) and degree level sport-related courses. These programmes are valuable to the ISES in relation to widening participation, working with the wider community and progression onto the institute’s degree and Masters programmes. Two of the key strategic aims of the University of Worcester are to provide an outstanding student experience and inclusive higher education: these are demanding remits since courses that are provided in collaboration with partner colleges may face greater challenges, as the student experience involves two distinct institutions in different locations, each with their own facilities, resources and staffing. Students on these courses are taught in dual locations by staff from both institutions, and whilst the diversity of this dual provision is attractive and positive in many respects, it can also provide challenges, for example with respect to facilities, resources and transport.
This project sought to explore how partner college students perceive their overall experience in relation to the following broad themes:
a) facilities and resources;
b) learning and teaching (including assessment);
c) employability;
d) personal development;
e) recommendations for enhancing the student experience.
It was envisaged that the involvement of the three partner college

MassBike Worcester E-Bike Program Assessment IQP
MassBike provided roughly 100 electric pedal-assist bicycles to individuals with low income residing or working in Worcester during the first iteration of their program. To assist in improving upon the first iteration, the team worked to identify barriers to e-bike adoption and gather data surrounding e-bike adoption and experiences riding in Worcester. The team held interviews with the Worcester Department of Transport and Mobility to ascertain professional views on the state of cycling in Worcester. We also evaluated participants' experiences riding in the city through a focus group setting. The team found many overlapping themes between the data gathered and prior research, allowing the creation of an improved data collection instrument for MassBike based upon the identified themes

We delved into the rare book trade and examined the poets' lives by reading primary and secondary works and conducting interviews. We adapted and updated the existing web publication on Worcester Authors to also include the Worcester Poets. We also investigated the holdings of the Gordon Library and made recommendations to the Archives Department on the acquisition of appropriate works to expand the collection

Strategies for Mitigating the Proliferation of Microplastics in Worcester Waterways
We partnered with the Worcester Department of Public Works (DPW) to conduct an inaugural series of microplastics testing in Worcester. Our tests could not determine if there were microplastics exiting the Middle River; however, there were larger plastics. Utilizing the information we gained from our tests and outreach we recommend that the Worcester DPW&P begin to conduct microplastics testing and regularly survey Worcester residents’ opinions regarding plastics. Additionally, we recommend that WPI create projects pertaining to Worcester’s microplastics
Using USB Devices for Online Document Storage in Worcester Business School
The Worcester Business School (WBS) is migrating from paper-based assignment submission to electronic submission and feedback. Currently, no policies or procedures exist for staff and tutors to effectively manage the administration document storage for this process, thus creating confusion and lack of effectiveness among stakeholders. This project report suggests a method for managing the administration portion of the e-submission/feedback procedure using USB devices for online storage
