National League of Women Voters meeting program
No full textThis is a program from a mass meeting of the National League of Women Voters for the 10th anniversary of women's suffrage. The meeting was held at the Columbia Auditorium in Louisville, Kentucky, on April 29, 1930. The program credits national and regional directors of the League and briefly outlines the schedule for the meeting. During the convention, three speakers gave histories of the struggle for women's suffrage. Also included in the meeting was a group prayer and musical performance. The end of the program also thanks the Filson Club for loaning the League a collection of flags which were displayed at the meeting.
The League of Women Voters was first formed at the national level in early 1920 by Carrie Chapman Catt, President of the National Woman Suffrage Association. Soon, additional leagues began to form at the state and local level, with the League of Women Voters of Ohio being organized in May 1920 in Columbus. The League was first formed to empower women to use their newfound right to vote, and today its primary purpose remains citizen education. To this goal, it supports voter registration efforts, provides information on candidates and issues, sponsors debates and offers publications on public policy and voter engagement topics

No full textThis press release, written on December 18, 1829, and released on January 19, 1930, by the League of Women Voters of Ohio, announces the state of Ohio's nominees to the National Roll of Honor of the National League of Women Voters. This Roll of Honor was created as part of the League's 10 year anniversary to honor suffragists who were nationally known for their work during the suffrage movement and their later work in politics. The League of Women Voters of Ohio nominated four women: Belle Sherwin, Florence E. Allen, Harriet Taylor Upton and Elizabeth Hauser. In the press release, the League includes biographies of these four women which explain why they were chosen as Ohio's nominees.
