Thich Nhat Hanh
Thich Nhat Hanh is one of the most prominent Buddhist leaders in the world today. A prolific author, he has had a profound impact on both theory and practice for many contemporary Buddhists, particularly with regard to his efforts to integrate mindfulness training into daily life as a mechanism for promoting peace. He is widely credited with coining the term 'Engaged Buddhism' as a description of how Buddhists should manifest their beliefs in concrete activities in the world aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged people, transforming societies, and promoting peace
The present work is based on the study of the concept of love in buddhist perspective, particularly from the perspective of buddhist Thich Nhat Hanh, essentially in his book “Lições sobre o amor”. The thesis aims to highlight some questions about the nature of love. The author, Thich Nhat Hanh is a buddhist monk, leader of a buddhist community, whose vast work rescues the true concept of love according to the buddhist teachings. In his work presents the following essential elements of true love: loving kindness (maitri); compassion (karuna); joy (mudita) and equanimity (upeksha). And puts the love as the basis of true happiness. This thesis aims to deepen these concepts in the light of a philosophical discourse. Is love just a theoretical concept? Can we extend this concept to a real perspective and practice in life and society? Maitri will be love the basis of all happiness in every human being? The theme of love is a widely studied topic in various perspectives and theories. In this thesis I analyze the depth of the buddhist proposal of love in the work of the monk Thich Nhat Hanh. As this proposal fit in society

The emerging legal framework for private sector development in Viet Nam's transitional economy
A major objective of Viet Nam's transition to a market economy has been to reactivate the private sector in a mixed economy. Several new laws have been introduced in the past five years to implement this policy and to create an enabling environment for the private sector. The author reviews some of the more important laws and regulations that affect Viet Nam's private sector activities, including laws on real property, intellectual property, companies, domestic investment, foreign investment, bankruptcy, contracts, and dispute resolution. Anti-monopoly law has not yet been introduced in Viet Nam. The issue of competition is addressed in the context of trade law, the relative roles of the state and private sector, and restrictions in company law. These areas all establish the foundation of a legal framework for a market economy. The author concludes that Viet Nam's legal framework, like China's, is still influenced by ideology, which causes problems in such areas as private ownership of real property and with such fundamental legal concepts as"due process of law."It is noted that the private sector is constrained by the lack of an independent judiciary, the absence of private land ownership, other uncertainties in property law that limit the develpoment of financial markets, and the inherent bias of the system in favor of the state sector (and collective ownership). Also noted is a law-abiding attitude, equally important to development has been slow to develop. The author goes on to point out that the foreign investment process is too complicated, and its company law too restrictive. A first priority should be to strreamline regulations, as well as liberalize trade policy and increase efforts in privatization of state enterprises. In this respect the author notes that export processing zones may be a useful interim instrument to attract foreign investment but should be phased out over time. More important in the long term is a good investment climate resting on a strong legal foundation.Legal Products,Environmental Economics&Policies,Banks&Banking Reform,Municipal Housing and Land,Municipal Financial Management,Environmental Economics&Policies,Banks&Banking Reform,Municipal Housing and Land,Legal Products,Municipal Financial Management
Gene inactivation using the CRISPR/Cas9 system in the nematode Pristionchus pacificus
The diplogastrid nematode Pristionchus pacificus is a nematode model system for comparative studies to Caenorhabditis elegans and integrative evolutionary biology aiming for interdisciplinary approaches of evo-devo, population genetics, and ecology. For this, fieldwork can be combined with laboratory studies, and P. pacificus has a well-developed methodological toolkit of forward genetics, whole genome sequencing, DNA-mediated transformation, and various -omics platforms. Here, we establish CRISPR/Cas9-based gene inactivation and describe various boundary conditions of this methodology for P. pacificus. Specifically, we demonstrate that most mutations arise within the first 9 hours after injections. We systematically tested the efficiency of sgRNAs targeting different exons in Ppa-dpy-1 and characterized the molecular nature of the induced mutations. Finally, we provide a protocol that might also be useful for researchers working with other non-Caenorhabditis nematodes.N
This paper presents the results of research on the biography and the basis of the
teachings of Thich Nath Hanh Vietnamese monk of Zen Buddhist tradition, describing its
history since its formation as a monk and his political activist struggle for peace during the
Vietnam War. In his extensive work Thich Nath Hanh provides grants for the implementation
or experience of mindfulness as a contribution to the movement of engaged Buddhism and
contemporary inter-religious dialogue. The main pursuit of this study is to describe and
analyze the possible contributions of Thich Nath Hanh to the historical moment in which we
live and the application of its activists practices for the improvement of the relationship
between humans and the planet in a green vision and inter-religious dialogue .
In this search presents its approach to other seekers of Interreligious Dialogue,
particularly those of the Christian tradition, as Thomas Merton and Daniel Berrigan, in books
where he explores the theme of rapprochement between the teachings of Buddha and Christ.
Finally, there is the contemporary situation of the dialogue and the applicability of the
proposals of this author and his Interbeing Order as support for the peaceful existence among
the different religious traditions and cultures today.
A principal busca deste trabalho é descrever e analisar as possíveis
The Interaction between Christianity and Buddhism according to Paul Williams and Thich Nhat Hanh
Předkládaná bakalářská práce nese název "Vzájemná interpretace křesťanství a buddhismu v pohledu Paula Williamse a Thich Nhat Hanha". Oba představují...The proposed bachelor thesis is entitled: "The Interaction between Christianity and Buddhism according to Paul Williams and Thich Nhat Hanh". The first part of this thesis gives an introduction of Buddhism. It also clarifies the basic terminology from this field. There is an instruction to interreligious dialogue. The goal was to introduce the most important approaches to interreligious dialogue and the most important historical milestones. There is an introduction of the book The Monk and the Lama, which tries to define the differences between Christianity and Buddhism and searches possibilities how to engage in interreligious dialogue. The second part of this thesis deals with the T. N. Hanh's book's presentation "Living Buddha, Living Christ" and P. Williams's book's "Unexpected way. On converting from Buddhism to Catholicism." There is the short biography of each author, which helps to understand their stances on Buddhism and Christianity. In the third part there are both books compared in terms of both author's attitudes to the main topics. T. N. Hanh tried to find the points of Buddhism's and Christianity's similarities. He wants to prove that Christianity and Buddhism are close to each other. On the contrary P. Williams points to seemingly similar topis in his book. In this thesis was...Protestant theological facultyEvangelická teologická fakultaEvangelická teologická fakultaProtestant Theological Facult
phylogenetic analysis of antisense gene pairs in nematodes
This archived folder contains sequences, alignments and trees that were used for the publication
"First insights into the nature and evolution of antisense transcription in nematodes" (Figure 3,4,5)
by Rödelsperger, Menden, Serobyan, Witte, Baskaran (BMC Evolutionary Biology, 2016).
The protein sequences (.fa files) were obtained by aligning C. elegans reference sequences against 19 other nematode genomes with the help of the Software exonerate.
Multiple sequence alignments (*_alignment.fa) for homologous proteins were generated by the MUSCLE software and Maximum-likelihood trees were estimated by the phangorn R-package (.nexml files)
