Formulas for the h-mass on 1-currents with coefficients in
Abstract We consider the minimization of the h -mass over normal 1-currents in R n with coefficients in R m and prescribed boundary. This optimization is known as multi-material transport problem and used in the context of logistics of multiple commodities, but also as a relaxation of nonconvex optimal transport tasks such as so-called branched transport problems. The h -mass with norm h can be defined in different ways, resulting in three functionals M h , | · | H , and M h , whose equality is the main result of this article: M h is a functional on 1-currents in the spirit of Federer and Fleming, norm | · | H denotes the total variation of a Radon measure with respect to H induced by h , and M h is a mass on flat 1-chains in the sense of Whitney. On top we introduce a new and improved notion of calibrations for the multi-material transport problem: we identify calibrations with (weak) Jacobians of optimizers of the associated convex dual problem, which yields their existence and natural regularity.Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft http://dx.doi.org/10.13039/501100001659Japan Society for the Promotion of Science http://dx.doi.org/10.13039/50110000169

Dasyhelea luteogrisea Wirth & Williams
Dasyhelea luteogrisea Wirth & Williams Dasyhelea luteogrisea Wirth & Williams, 1957: 10 (Bermuda; Bahamas; Florida & Texas); Davies & Giglioli 1979: 592 (Grand Cayman); Wilkening et al. 1985: 518 (Florida records); Borkent & Spinelli 2000: 25 (in New World catalog south of the USA; distribution); Borkent & Spinelli 2007: 60 (in Neotropical catalog; distribution). Diagnosis. Males and females are nearly morphologically identical to males and females of D. grisea but differ from that species in being yellowish overall, but, males have a dark brown gonostylus. Discussion. Wirth & Williams (1957) described this yellowish relative of D. grisea from Bermudae (type locality), the Bahamas, and coastal sites in Florida, Louisiana and Texas. Wirth & Williams noted that “ This species is evidently a salt marsh relative of Dasyhelea grisea (Coquillett), with which it occasionally occurs, but without showing evidence of interbreeding.” Wilkening et al. (1985) listed Florida records from Miami-Dade, Levy, Monroe and Palm Beach counties. We compared a male and female from Guadeloupe that apparently belong to this species with Florida specimens from Levy and Monroe counties and 3 male and 3 female paratypes from Bermuda borrowed from the USNM. Material examined. Guadeloupe, Basse Terre, Traces de Cretes (D-14), 22-V-2012, R. H. Turnbow, BL trap, 1 male, 1 female. Culicoides owyheensis Jones and Wirth
Culicoides owyheensis Jones and Wirth Culicoides owyheensis Jones and Wirth, 1978: 57 (misspelled as owyheenis; key; female; Idaho). Wirth et al. 1985: 36 (numerical characters; fig. female wing). Diagnosis. (Tables 14, 15, 17, 18) Brown with some yellow; wing without pattern of pale spots (as in Fig. 3 C. stonei); two sclerotized ovoid spermathecae and fingerlike vestigial third (as in Fig. 45 C. stonei); posterior portion of female sternite 8 cleft, with blunt submedian posterior projections (as in Fig. 45 C. stonei); ventroposterior membrane of male sternite 9 spiculate; aedeagus Y-shaped, median process stout, short, blunt, half as long as basal arms; parameres separate, simple, apex curved hooklike (as in Fig. 41 C. mortivallis). To distinguish from C. mortivallis, ratios to length of flagellomere 9:>1.50 for flagellomeres 7+8,>3.95 for proboscis,>1.90 for palpal segment 3. Distribution. Idaho (Owyhee County), Utah (Grand County). Adult behavior. R. H. Jones and H. W. Potter Jr. collected females from the ear of a sheep prostrate with bluetongue in Idaho (Jones and Wirth 1978). However, I think that C. owyheensis may be a junior synonym of C. mortivallis, and the record may be for that species. Remarks. Using the measurement ratios from Wirth and Jones (1978: 57), 2 of 17 specimens recognized as either C. owyheensis or C. mortivallis based on SCo pattern were identified as C. owyheensis (Table 18). Culicoides (Culicoides) neopulicaris Wirth 1955
Culicoides (Culicoides) neopulicaris Wirth Culicoides neopulicaris Wirth, 1955a: 355 (Texas, USA). Culicoides (Culicoides) neopulicaris: Vargas 1960: 39 (in list of New World species in subgenus Culicoides). Discussion. The type locality of this species is Kerrville, Kerr County, Texas, but in his original description, Wirth (1955a) also identified four females from San Luis Potosí, Mexico that he did not designate as paratypes. Subsequently, Wirth and Blanton (1969) revised the pulicaris group in North America and identified additional specimens of C. neopulicaris from Chiapas, Morelos and Veracruz, Mexico and other material from Costa Rica and El Salvador. In their Nearctic wing atlas, Wirth et al. (1985) also listed this species from Louisiana, USA. We provide the first records from the states of Hidalgo, México and Yucatán, and additional records from Chiapas, Morelos and Veracruz. New records.
