Jeffrey Pivoted Bucket Conveyor
The man in the photograph is lubricating a wheel on a pivoted bucket conveyor made by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio. While the conveyor chain was made by Jeffrey, the wheels and pivoted buckets were made by Ohio Malleable Iron Company, a Columbus-based subsidiary of Jeffrey. This photograph was taken at the Transue-Williams Company, Alliance, Ohio, 1917

Dr. Jeffrey Hass – Faculty Author Interview
Dr. Jeffrey Hass, Associate Professor of Sociology, discusses his new book, Power, Culture, and Economic Change in Russia: To the Undiscovered Country of Post-Socialism, 1988-2008. Utilizing cutting-edge theory and unique data, this book examines the role of power, culture, and practice in Russia’s story of post-socialist economic change, and provides a framework for addressing general economic change
Pseudogramma xantha Randall, Baldwin & Williams 2002
Pseudogramma xantha Randall, Baldwin & Williams, 2002 Yellow Podge Figure 10 Pseudogramma xanthum Randall, Baldwin & Williams, 2002 (type locality Temoe Atoll) Pseudogramma australis australis (in part) Randall and Baldwin, 1997 Remarks. Randall et al. (2002) discussed the taxonomic history and confusion related to this species. They described P. xantha as a new species for the non-Easter Island specimens previously referred to as P. australis australis. Our genetic analysis (Fig. 4) shows P. xantha to be highly divergent from its congeners. Pseudogramma xantha was previously known only from four localities, Temoe Atoll, Pitcairn Island, Rarotonga, and Tonga. One of us (JTW) subsequently collected specimens of this species from outer reef slopes around 30 m depth at small islets of the Gambier archipelago and from outer reef slopes at Maria Atoll in the Austral Islands. These cryptic fishes are undoubtedly more widespread, but their depth of occurrence and cryptic habits make them difficult to collect. It appears to be a subtropical species with no specimens yet collected north of about 20 degrees S latitude. Like other members of Pseudogramma, they have only been seen and/or collected after the application of a rotenone solution used for sampling cryptic species. Additional material examined: GAMBIER: USNM 400617, 41.0 mm; 400622, 34.4 mm; 400624, 31.8 mm; 400626, 33.1 mm; 411811, 4 spec. AUSTRAL ISLANDS, Maria Atoll: USNM 422907, 17.5 mm; USNM 423287, 34.3 mm.Published as part of Williams, Jeffrey T. & Viviani, Jeremie, 2016, Pseudogramma polyacantha complex (Serranidae, tribe Grammistini): DNA barcoding results lead to the discovery of three cryptic species, including two new species from French Polynesia, pp. 246-260 in Zootaxa 4111 (3) on page 258, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4111.3.3, http://zenodo.org/record/26589

Gamifying RPI: The benefits of avatars and knowledge-induced coworker familiarity
The growth of the gamification industry has increased the use of avatar-enhanced leaderboards as a method of providing public relative performance information (RPI). This study examines the effect of representing employees as humanlike avatars in public leaderboards on employees’ effort to improve their leaderboard performance (i.e., self-focused effort). Additionally, since practitioners have expressed concern that competition induced by leaderboards may reduce helping behavior, I also examine the effect of humanlike avatars on subsequent helping behavior toward coworkers on unrelated tasks (i.e., others-focused effort). Using an experiment, I find that representing employees with humanlike avatars increases both self-focused and subsequent others-focused effort when coworkers know little about each other, but that humanlike avatars do not increase either form of effort when coworkers know relatively more about each other. A supplemental experiment demonstrates that these effects are robust to using both humanlike silhouettes and headshot photographs as alternative forms of avatars. My study suggests that when deciding whether to provide public RPI via avatar-enhanced leaderboards, managers ought to consider the existing social environment in which employees operate.Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'U of I Access', the embargo will last until 2022-05-01The student, Jeffrey Williams Jr., accepted the attached license on 2020-04-13 at 09:16.The student, Jeffrey Williams Jr., submitted this Dissertation for approval on 2020-04-13 at 09:24.This Dissertation was approved for publication on 2020-04-13 at 16:35.DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #14965 on 2020-08-25 at 17:27:26Made available in DSpace on 2020-08-26T23:54:31Z (GMT).
