Reflections From Advances in Global Leadership's Emerald Literati Award Winners
The book/journal editors of Emerald Publishing are asked to select the Outstanding Author Contribution in each volume, which is a difficult choice. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Emerald Literati Awards were handed out in a ceremony at the Academy of Management Meeting. Because that practice ended, we decided to showcase the work of our award winners, beginning with volume 8, who have made very important contributions to the field of global leadership. We were also very curious about the impact of their article and what they would write differently today. Thus, we invited the author/author team to write a short reflective piece broadly related to the questions below

Emerald
Padel capture(s) small details with a lightness and freshness which has genuine staying power. Her skill at selecting the telling visual moment implies how a good parent may extend and deepen their child's understanding of the world. It also enacts its own process of hidden things becoming visible, part of the labour of emerald mining and cutting that Padel explores to illustrate her passage into healing -- Alice Hiller * The Poetry Review * If Ruth Padel is one our national treasures - and she most certainly is - then her latest book of poems will surely rank as one of her greatest achievements to date... lyrical reflections on the human condition... an intensely beautiful portrait of final farewells... Padel has made great art out of her ingenious - and utterly satisfying - blending of lyric memoir, natural history, and travel writing, defying the limitations poets all too often place on themselves... Everyone should read Emerald, it's as valuable as the title implies -- Andre Naffis-Sahely * Ambit * Emerald's themes are broad as well as attentive to the intimate. Padel writes with an acute awareness that the mundane can gesture towards the profound -- Carla-Rosa Manfredino * Times Literary Supplement * Emerald is a book of a wild and generous imagination from a writer at the peak of her powers. It offers up a rich excavation of the truths and mysteries found in grief - and should be of interest to any reader concerned with the limitations and beauty of the human condition. Padel has created a collection that is very much alive with uniquely restless, questioning intensity -- Sarah Westcott * Poetry School * A profoundly moving, complex, glittering elegy for her brilliant mother -- Bel Moone
30 Days Wild: who benefits most?
There is a need to provide interventions to improve well-being that are accessible and cost-effective. Interventions to increase engagement with nature are coming to the fore. The Wildlife Trusts 30 Days Wild campaign shows promise as a large-scale intervention for improving public engagement with nature for well-being. The paper aims to discuss this issue. Design/methodology/approach In total, 273 people fully participated in a repeated measures evaluation comparing baseline measures of nature connection, health, happiness and conservation behaviours with measures post-30 days and 3 months. Findings There were sustained and significant increases for scores in nature connection, health, happiness and conservation behaviours. Those with lower scores at baseline in nature connection, conservation behaviours and happiness showed the most benefit. Older participants and those with higher baseline scores in conservation behaviours were the most likely to sustain their engagement with the campaign. Research limitations/implications Although the design and defined outcomes meet criteria for public health interventions, the self-reported measures, self-selecting sample and attrition are limitations. Originality/value The significant and sustained effects of the campaign on health, happiness and nature connection and conservation make this a promising intervention for improving human’s and nature’s well-being. The large community sample and naturalistic setting for the intervention make these data relevant to future interventions and policy. There is a need to provide interventions to improve well-being that are accessible and cost-effective. Integrated emerald ash borer management: Testing a novel approach to assess stakeholder perceptions
Two primary datasets are included: 1) Onsite data captured from visitors at Fort Snelling, Lake Bemidji, and Wild River state parks and 2) Data obtained from online surveys. Coding manuals, data descriptions, and participant consent forms are also included. These data describe Minnesota state park visitors' perceptions, attitudes, preferences, and behaviors pertaining to landscapes managed in response to emerald ash borer (EAB, Agrilus planipennis) and EAB itself. Two primary datasets are included: 1) Onsite data captured from visitors at Fort Snelling, Lake Bemidji, and Wild River state parks and 2) Data obtained from online surveys. These data aim to inform researchers and managers of the public's understanding of EAB, their acceptance of common Minnesota forest management strategies, their intended visitation behaviors in response to management surrounding EAB, and preferences for landscapes managed in response to EAB. Coding manuals, data descriptions, and participant consent forms are included. Data were released to provide transparency and data to potential stakeholders and interested parties.Minnesota Invasive Terrestrial Plants and Pests Center (MITPPC)Schneider, Ingrid; Rannow, Brett; Russell, Matt; Gupta, Angela; Windmuller-Campione, Marcella. Getting acquainted with social networks and apps: Tumblin’ through the visual web
This article discusses the social media site Tumblr and the visual web and the applications in libraries. Platforms that are part of the visual Web use images, rather than text, as the primary content of a post. Text may appear, but it is secondary to the image, essentially the opposite of a long blog post where the primary content is text with optional pictures placed for emphasis or enhancement.
Three social networks in particular – Tumblr, Pinterest and Instagram – each gained more than 10 million visitors over the course of the year in part by catering to a desire for more visually appealing content. This article is (c) Emerald Group Publishing and permission has been granted for this version to appear here (http://dx.doi.org/doi:10.7282/T3HT2R71).
