We went up possum Flat and down Koon Branch and there we treed a possum. I told Billy Bees Wax and Telephone Resin bein we's all such good climbers, I'd climb that tree myself. So I clum about 20 feet high, and I slapped my hand down. Now I guess I got ye. , oh I guess that's a knot. I clum up about 20 feet higher. I slapped my hand down. Now I guess I got ye. I clum up about 20 feet higher, bove the top of that tree. I heard something go kerslish, kerslosh, I guess dats dis niggah hisself. Bout that time old Bulger an ole Tige, dah all jumped onto me. I tole Billy Bees Wax an Telephone Resin if day didn get them dogs offa me I'd get em off myself. Bout that time Sal come long, I axed Sal if I could go home with her. I don know sir. I don much care ifin you do. As we went down the road we walked awful close together.
Sal walked on one side of the road and I walked on the tother.
We had a great arguement. Sal argued sweet potatoes growed the best in sandy land, and I did too. And we got down to the Old Missy's house we set awful close together. Sal sat in one corner of the house and I set in the tother. Ize settin there well contented myself, I heard something go kerslish and I axe Sal what that wuz.
She says I don know suh. I guess that's the old misses churnin.

I went runnin off down thro town. I axe them what they'd do my washin for.
