A Practical Flow Synthesis of 1,2,3-Triazoles
A robust and versatile protocol for synthesis of 1-monosubstituted and 1,4-disubstituted 1H-1,2,3-triazoles was established under continuous flow conditions using copper-on-charcoal as a heterogeneous catalyst. This methodology allowed for the synthesis of a diverse set of substituted 1,2,3-triazoles with good functional group tolerance and high yields. 2-Ynoic acids were also used as small-chain alkyne donors in a decarboxylation/cycloaddition cascade, allowing gaseous reagents to be bypassed, delivering desired triazoles in high yields. The developed methodology was used to synthesize an antiepileptic agent, rufinamide, which was obtained in 96% isolated yield
Efficient synthesis of thioamide terminated molecular wires
Bis-thioamide terminated ‘molecular wires’ are formed in high yield under mild conditions from readily synthesised bis-nitrile terminated molecules and aqueous ammonium sulphide in DMF
Synthesis of endohedral fullerenes by molecular surgery
Encapsulation of atoms or small molecules inside fullerenes provides a unique opportunity for study of the confined species in the isolated cavity, and the synthesis of closed C60 or C70 fullerenes with enclosed atoms or molecules has recently developed using the method of ‘molecular surgery’; in which an open-cage intermediate fullerene is the host for encapsu- lation of a guest species, before repair of the cage opening. In this work we review the main methods for cage-opening and closure, and the achievements of molecular surgery to date

The Jump Room
The Jump Room is a project by artist Richard Whitby, incorporating video, drawing, writing, performance and collaborations. This book presents all the iterations of the project together, along with texts by Honor Gavin, Virginia Woolf and the artist himself, and a set of new drawings by Sooyon Kim
Zirconocene-Induced Cocyclisation/Elimination Reactions of 2-Heterosubstituted 1,6-Dienes and 1,6-Enynes
Zirconocene-mediated cocyclisation of 2-heterosubstituted-1,6-dienes and -enynes gave zirconacycles bearing an endocyclic beta-leaving group which eliminated under the reaction conditions to provide exocyclic alkylidene groups. The scope of this cyclisation/elimination has been investigated along with further elaboration of the monosubstituted zirconocene intermediates by insertion of alkenyl carbenoids
The regiochemistry of zirconacycle elaboration
The regioselectivity of insertion of carbenoids into a variety of unsymmetrical zirconacyclopentanes is reported. For comparison the regioselectivities of isonitrile insertion and protonation have also been determined
Synthesis of ?-iminoimidates by palladium catalysed double isonitrile insertion
Palladium catalysed selective double insertion of isonitriles into aryl bromides with trapping by sodium alkoxides provides an efficient 4-component synthesis of unusual ?-iminoimidates
