No full textCrítico de la cultura y los nuevos medios de información, McKenzie Wark (Australia, 1960) lleva toda una vida dedicada a analizar cómo nos está cambiando la tecnología. Desde que emigró a Nueva York, en 2000, se ha centrado en advertir sobre el vectorialismo, una nueva forma de capitalismo que retrata en uno de sus libros más conocidos, Un manifiesto hacker (Alpha Decay, 2004). En la misma línea, destaca Gamer Theory (HUP, 2007), donde equipara la vida actual a un videojuego imperfecto y competitivo que no permite volver a empezar después del Game over. En su última obra, Molecular red: theory for the anthropocene (Verso, 2017), reflexiona sobre la era que nos ha tocado vivir, el antropoceno, caracterizada por el destructor impacto global de la actividad humana sobre los ecosistemas terrestres. Sus ojos y su discurso brillan con una mezcla de escepticismo, inocencia y rebeldía. Wark consigue darle la vuelta a las creencias imperantes para ir más allá de lo aparente. Lo hace, además, desde el enfoque de la Internacional Situacionista, movimiento artístico que pretendía acabar con la sociedad de clases y el sistema ideológico contemporáneo de la civilización occidental

No full textPilot Robert B. Wark and his co-pilot, Edward L. Brown, both of Seattle, took off August 10, 1930 from Tacoma, bound for Tokyo. They planned to refuel their Fokker biplane in Whitehorse and Nome before reaching their final destination 5,400 miles away, but ended up making it only as far as Vancouver, B.C.Lettering on plane: Pacific Era.
