Interview of author Walter Satterthwait
Walter Satterthwait, author of a series of contemporary crime novels, talks about his protagonists Joshua Croft and Rita Mondragon, and his novels set in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Satterthwait describes how he came to writing crime stories and why he chose to use a Latina as a main character. He describes his exposure to different cultures, his childhood of frequent moves, how he came to writing, and how he developed his characters. Satterthwait is interviewed by Diana Rivera at the 2005 Left Coast Crime Conference held in El Paso, Texas

In 1898 he was employed by Kerry and Electric Photo Engraving Co. as an artist and photo-engraver and in 1900 he worked as an art teacher at Ballarat Art School. Bennett joined the Mines Department in Melbourne in 1904 as a lithographic draughtman and was promoted to chief draughtsman in 1928. From 1944 Bennett was employed as a cartographic draughtsman and artist for Australian Petroleum Company until his retirement in 1949. He died in 1967.

A biography of Walter Widrig
Walter Widrig is Professor of Art History Emeritus at Rice University. He came to the University in 1969 from the University of St. Thomas, and was chair of the Department of Art and Art History at Rice from 1982-1985. Professor Widrig’s areas of expertise and research interest include Roman and early Christian art and architecture, as well as the history of architecture during the Renaissance, Baroque, and Modern periods. As part of his research Professor Widrig both participated in and co-directed archaeological excavations at various sites in Italy, Libya, Cyprus, Syria, Jordan, the Balkans, Turkey, and Tunisia. His publications include a number of papers which appeared in scholarly journals, individual chapters in edited collections, and the monograph The Via Gabina Villas. In 2014 the Amici di Via Gabina Traveling Fellowship was established in honor of Walter Widrig and Philip Oliver-Smith
