A Comparative Mixed-Methods Study of Algerian University Students’ Interaction with Fiction Works and Their Movie Adaptations through Reading and Watching
Abstract: This research delves into the engagement of Algerian university students with literary works and their corresponding film adaptations. Focusing on 1st-year English department students at Mostafa Benboulaid University, Algeria, a comparative mixed-methods approach is employed to study preferences, cross-cultural understanding, and motivations. Five literary works Khaled Hosseini's The Kite Runner, Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist, Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince and their movie adaptations form the basis of this investigation. Data was collected from surveys distributed to 200 university students, along with additional inputs from interviews, creative writing samples, and tests across four student cohorts. Results highlight the enhancement in self-expression, identity exploration, and social communication, comparing students' comprehension, interpretation, evaluation, and enjoyment across both mediums. The findings underscore the potential benefits of leveraging movie adaptations as educational tools, with particular relevance during crises, such as the pandemic.

The Reliability of E-learning at University meanwhile Corona Virus
This paper aims to show the effective role of ‘e-learning’ in teaching and learning as well. So, the research problem is based on how the e-learning could contribute to the learning process and develop the learner’s level without a real teacher. Methodologically, this study is working through descriptive and analytical methods since this work is mainly based on descriptions and analyzes of case study that requires defining, explaining, comparing, describing, and interpreting. In addition, the methodological theory we intend to work through is the analytical approach since we will be focusing on e-learning as a global phenomena is multiply increasing due to certain circumstances.
COVID-19 and Literary Reflections of Isolation: Exploring Society and the Human Psyche in Louise Erdrich’s The Sentence
This study explores the narrative complexities of The Sentence (2021) by Louise Erdrich, situating it within the wide context of pandemic literature to illuminate the societal and personal impacts of the COVID-19 crisis. The paper studies how this novel, set against the chaotic setting of 2020, encapsulates the essence of a global community grappling with unprecedented isolation, grief, and a collective search for resilience, using narrative analysis alongside literary and socio-psychological theories. This research underscores The Sentence as a crucial contemporary artifact that not only reflects but also aids in navigating the complexities of human experience during a crisis. The analysis reveals the skilled interlacing of personal and communal narratives by Erdrich, employing rich symbolism, character development, and cultural reflections to portray the multifaceted impact of the pandemic on society and the human psyche. This paper contributes to the expanding corpus of literary scholarship ( Ounissi, 2022) on pandemic narratives by stressing the significance of the novel as a cultural beacon of hope and understanding in times of profound societal change. Within the pages of the novel, Erdrich provides a perspective from which to view the present condition, urging a reevaluation of the interconnectedness of literature, society, and the enduring human spirit; at the same time, asking how responding to the pandemic has refashioned novel-writing.

The Impact of Using Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (GPT)on Advancing Creative Writing Skills in Literature Course for Undergraduate Students in Algeria
The present study investigates the impact of Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) technology on
creative writing skills (CWS) among undergraduate literature students in Algeria. Using a mixed-
methods approach, the study explores how integrating GPT into literature courses influences
students’ ability to employ figures of language and literary devices in their narratives. The findings
revealed that the use of GPT significantly enhanced the ability to describe settings in creative writing
(CW).Qualitatively, GPT enriched narrative development and offered new perspectives in storytelling.
The study suggests that usingGPT as a pedagogical tool can provide qualitative educational benefits,
encouraging further research into AI-assisted learning strategies in higher education

Dual biocontrol potential of the entomopathogenic fungus Akanthomyces muscarius against Thaumetopoea pityocampa and plant pathogenic fungi
Akanthomyces spp. species are known for their capacity to biocontrol of certain insects and plant pathogens;
however, their ability to biocontrol the pine processionary (Thaumetopoea pityocampa) and certain
phytopathogenic fungi belonging to the genera Fusarium and Curvularia have not been studied before. In
this study, a strain from Akanthomyces muscarius was isolated from wheat grains and then identified by
morphological and molecular tests. The strain was further studied for its capacity to control
Thaumetopoea pityocampa larvae through dose-mortality tests, and its ability to control some phytopathogenic
fungi strains of the genera Fusarium and Curvularia was studied through direct confrontation
tests. Dose-mortality tests at three concentrations of Akanthomyces muscarius against the first
instar larvae revealed a mortality of 92.15% after 11 days for the concentration of 2.3 106 conidia.
ml 1, with a median lethal concentration of 7.6 x103 conidia.ml1. Our isolate also showed antifungal
activity against these phytopathogenic fungi with inhibition rates ranging from 39.61% to 52.94%.
Akanthomyces muscarius proved to be a promising biocontrol agent for plant pests and diseases.
