As I write there, this is a selection of three fables (TMCM, DS, and The Rooster and the Fox) presented in The Road in Storyland (1932). No full textRecenzując książkę Marka Hendrykowskiego Andrzej Munk (2007), Kosińska-Krippner podkreśla, że autor z pasją detektywa śledzi losy Munka, wydobywając elementy tej układanki z archiwów, dokumentów i ze strzępów ludzkiej pamięci, łącząc je tak, by przy dokumentacyjnej okazji tworzyły jeszcze pasjonującą opowieść. Wprawdzie biografia reżysera - choć krótka - nie potrzebuje anegdotycznego ubarwienia, to jednak pod piórem Hendrykowskiego każdy najdrobniejszy fakt i wątek zamienia się w interesującą, często zaskakującą - i co ważne - zwartą historię. Autor nie tylko przypomina kolejne etapy prywatnego i zawodowego życia reżysera (skrupulatnie odnotowane daty, nazwy i nazwiska), ale też wprowadza arcyciekawy kontekst rodzinno-towarzyski, przemycając w przypisać liczne smaczki i ciekawostki. Przypominając te fakty, Marek Hendrykowski stara się jednak odpowiedzieć na pytanie, co ważnego - z dzisiejszego punktu widzenia - po Munku pozostało, co nowego wniósł do polskiej kinematografii, jakie w niej zajmuje miejsce i jakie uniwersalne przemyślenia zawiera jego twórczość.A review of Marek Hendrykowski's Andrzej Munk. In the book the author traces Munk's life, and with a passion of a detective finds all kinds of information from archives, documents and memories and uses it to create a fascinating story. Although the biography of the director - albeit short - does not need any additional colour, the stories told by Hendrykowski are all coherent, interesting and often surprising. Hendrykowski recounts Munk's private life and career, with all the dates, names and surnames duly noted, and adds a very interesting theme of friends and family, including all kinds of surprising minutia Hendrykowski tries to show what Munk brought into Polish cinematography, his place in it, and any universal messages contained in his work

No full textThe first name of the author of the large cadre is not revealed when reading the book - indeed, neither is his last name, since throughout the work he is called star doctor or comrade doctor, the latter, however, can be found out by the attentive reader on his own. Munk, who was born in Subotica in 1886 into a non-religious Jewish family, before the war served as a ship's doctor until the war's outbreak, and later as a medical officer of an infantry regiment. He was taken prisoner of war on July 8, 1917. His book tells the story of his years in captivity, also in his camps, sometimes fleeing from the whites, sometimes from the reds. His novel is a strange symptom [?], its author was forced to constantly adapt to the reigning power for the sake of self-preservation. After four years, from the grip of the Reds, he returned home - with his Russian wife and young son on a German steamer, now to Szabadka in Yugoslavia. After returning home, Munk continued to practice, from the 1920s he ran the Medical Matters section of the Bácsmegyei Napló, in addition to his front novel about the hinterland published: this novel was published in 1933 under the title Hinterland. No full textA lovely collection of vintage Platt and Munk offerings. The two fables, TMCM and TT, are illustrated by Lucille W. and H.C. Holling from Folk Tales Children Love (1932). The colored illustrations for TMCM are only adequate; the black-and-white illustrations are excellent. One TMCM illustration is dropped; some multicolored TT illustrations become monochrome or black-and-white here.
