Price Impact of Block Trades and Price Behavior Surrounding Block Trades in Indian Capital Market
We analyze the permanent (information effect) and temporary (liquidity effect) impact of block trades transacted in the National Stock Exchange of India. Block trades are identified using multiple criteria based on trade value and trade volume. Overall, the permanent price impact is more for block purchases than for block sales indicating that block purchases are more informative than block sales, which may be motivated by liquidity need. Unlike in other markets, we observe that the temporary impact is greater than the permanent impact in case of block purchase. We classify the block trades as All-or-None (AON) and Not-AON trades depending on the number of transactions through which a block order is executed. As expected, the price impact is higher for Not-AON trades as compared to AON trades (which can be assumed to be pre-negotiated trades). Further, arrival of multiple block trades increases market confidence on the information. The permanent price impact is higher for days where there are more than one block trade of similar nature than for days with only one block trade. To analyze the speed of market response to the information associated with block trades, we have used the ‘transaction time event approach’, as used by Holthausen et al. (1990). We find that the prices start increasing (front running) 8 minutes before block purchases but not in case of block sales i.e. some information about the impending block purchase is factored in by the market when the block trade is for purchases. Further, in the case of block sales, prices revert quickly leaving very small permanent price impact.

Teaching in the block: perceptions from an agricultural education classroom
Plan BA relatively new initiative called block scheduling is being used in high schools all over the country. Several schools are investigating and adopting block schedules to replace traditional schedules. Block scheduling has several benefits to educators, for example, the larger blocks of class time allow for a variety of teaching methods and activities. The purpose of the study was to research the teachers' attitudes of the effectiveness of block scheduling design. The study focused on four questions (1) What are agricultural education teachers' perceptions of the overall effectiveness of block scheduling? (2) Have teaching methods in agricultural education changed in response to block scheduling? (3) Has enrollment in agriculture classes changed as a result of the block schedule? (4) What are important benefits and drawbacks of block scheduling specific to agricultural education classrooms? Surveys were distributed to Wisconsin Agricultural Education Instructors at the end of the 2002 school year. The survey consisted of demographic information, 30 Likert type items, and a comment section. A total of 48 surveys were mailed to participants and thirty-two (67%) were returned. Results show that many teachers feel overall that block scheduling is effective for their agricultural education programs. Many participants stated advantages to block scheduling such as hands-on and lab activities, more time for fieldtrips, and the opportunity to have more individualized contact with students. However, participants also mentioned disadvantages such as challenges with FFA recruitment and member involvement

Zmiany w zakresie somatognozji u dzieci z dysharmonią rozwojową poddanych terapii psychomotorycznej metodą Procus i Block
Introduction: For many years somatagnosis has been a subject of interest for researchers as well as the topic of numerous academic reports. Somatagnostic disturbances have their permanent consequences in a child’s development, hence the question as to the correct neuro-paediatric diagnosis and effective therapy in the eradication of problems of developmental disharmony within the scheme and image of the body, temporal-spatial organisation and lateralization. Initially used in Belgium and subsequently in Poland, psychomotor therapy according to the model of Procus and Block bases itself on neurophysiological knowledge and psycho-pedagogy. The results of the research conducted from 2002 to 2004 presented in this article are the first analysis of the therapeutic process which the children participating in the described therapy underwent.
Aim: The checking of what changes within the scope of somatagnosis occur in children with developmental disharmony who have undergone psychomotor therapy according to Procus and Block, in which age and within which range of symptoms the greatest changes are affirmed.
Materials and methods: Observational study on a series of cases were conducted on a group of 109 children aged from 3 to 12 years. Diagnosis of developmental disharmony as well as the changes in the scope of somatagnosis were assessed on the basis of original neuropediatric tests according to Kułakowska. Therapy according to Procus and Block was applied during the course of 30 task sessions.
Results: Improvement was observed in all the test groups and in all the aspects of somatagnosis tested.
Conclusion: Psychomotor therapy according to Procus and Block may, even in a short period of application, have a significant influence on the treatment of somatagnosis disturbances in children with developmental disharmony. For the verification of this claim it is imperative for tests to be conducted with a control group.Wstęp: Od wielu lat somatognozja jest tematem zainteresowań badaczy oraz licznych doniesień naukowych. Zaburzenia somatognozji mają swoje trwałe konsekwencje w rozwoju dziecka, stąd nasuwa się pytanie o prawidłową diagnozę neuropediatryczną i skuteczną terapię likwidującą problemy dysharmonii rozwojowej w zakresie schematu i obrazu ciała, organizacji czasoprzestrzennej i lateralizacji. Zastosowana początkowo w Belgii, a następnie w Polsce, terapia psychomotoryczna według modelu Procus i Block bazuje na wiedzy neurofizjologicznej i psychopedagogice. Przedstawione w artykule wyniki badania przeprowadzonego w latach 2002-2004 są pierwszą analizą procesu terapeutycznego, który jest udziałem dzieci uczestniczących w opisywanej terapii.
Cel: Sprawdzenie, jakie zmiany w zakresie somatognozji występują u dzieci z dysharmonią rozwojową poddanych terapii psychomotorycznej według Procus i Block, w jakim okresie wieku i w zakresie jakich objawów stwierdza się największe zmiany.
Terapię według Procus i Block stosowano w trakcie 30 zajęć.
Wyniki: Poprawę obserwowano we wszystkich badanych grupach i we wszystkich badanych aspektach somatognozji.

Grafted block complex coacervate core micelles and their effect on protein adsorption on silica and polystyrene
peer reviewedWe have studied the formation and the stability of grafted block complex coacervate core micelles (C3Ms) in solution and the influence of grafted block C3M coatings on the adsorption of the proteins beta-lactoglobulin, bovine serum albumin, and lysozyme. The C3Ms consist of a grafted block copolymer PAA(21)-b-PAPEO(14) (poly(acrylic acid)-b-poly(acrylate methoxy poly(ethylene oxide)), with a negatively charged PAA block and a neutral PAPEO block and a positively charged homopolymer P2MVPI (poly(N-methyl 2-vinyl pyridinium iodide). In solution, these C3Ms partly disintegrate at salt concentrations between 50 and 100 mM NaCl. Adsorption of C3Ms and proteins has been studied with fixed-angle optical reflectometry, at salt concentrations ranging from 1 to 100 mM NaCl. In comparison with the adsorption of PAA(21)-b-PAPEO(14) alone adsorption of C3Ms significantly increases the amount of PAA(21)-b-PAPEO(14) on the surface. This results in a higher surface density of PEO chains. The stability of the C3M coatings and their influence on protein adsorption are determined by the composition and the stability of the C3Ms in solution. A C3M-PAPEO(14)/P2MVPI(43) coating strongly suppresses the adsorption of all proteins on silica and polystyrene. The reduction of protein adsorption is the highest at 100 mM NaCl (> 90%). The adsorbed C3M-PAPEO(14)/P2MVPI(43) layer is partly removed from the surface upon exposure to an excess of beta-lactoglobulin solution, due to formation of soluble aggregates consisting of beta-lactoglobulin and P2MVPI(43). In contrast, C3M-PAPEO(14)/P2MVPI(228) which has a fivefold longer cationic block enhances adsorption of the negatively charged proteins on both surfaces at salt concentrations above 1 mM NaCl. A single PAA(21)-b-PAPEO(14) layer causes only a moderate reduction of protein adsorption
