Letter from Joseph S. Tomlinson to Mr. & Mrs. Johnson Armstrong
Joseph S. Tomlinson has just returned from a trip to Maysville, Kentucky, where he stayed in the home of Johnson Armstrong and his wife. He writes a letter of appreciation to his hosts. [At the time, Tomlinson was completing his degree at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY. Graduating in 1825, he was admitted on trial to the Kentucky Conference in September of 1825 and appointed to a professorship at Augusta College in Maysville. Johnson Armstrong was a trustee at the college.] The letter is difficult to read and the author was initially identified as Tolindaw . Comparing the signature in the October 31, 1844 letter, it is clear that both letters were written by Tomlinson. Abstract Number - 534https://digitalcommons.owu.edu/finley-letters/1831/thumbnail.jp

Supporting disabled children and their families in Scotland: A review of policy and research
The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has been supporting research about disabled children and their families for a number of years. An earlier Foundations covering the messages from these projects has already been published (1). This Foundations places the messages from that work into the Scottish context. It gives an overview of current policies affecting disabled children and their families in Scotland and draws on research carried out north of the border
Solar Power in the Garden State
This special issue on energy and solar power in New Jersey was made possible because of the extensive portfolio of research centers and institutes at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. Dr. Frank A. Felder, an Associate Research Professor, has been director of the School’s Center for Energy, Economic & Environmental Policy (CEEEP) since 2006. Solid-Phase Synthesis Of Oligonucleotides Containing 3'-Thiothymidine
A 5'-O-monomethoxytritylthymidine-3'-S-thiophosphoramidite (3) has been used to prepare oligodeoxynucleotides containing 3'-thiothymidine on a solid phase support. The intermediate thiophosphites are most efficiently oxidised using tetrabutylammonium periodate
Orientalism in Joseph Conrad’s novel Almayer’s Folly (1895): a post-colonial approach
He represents the false critic toward colonialism which depicted him as the author in the neutral side in the history of colonialism. In this undergraduate thesis, the writer attempts to reveal the pattern of Joseph Conrad’s Orientalism by find the image and stereotype of the Orient and Occident, the Fantasy of Western colonialism, the hegemony that legitimate the colonial authorities toward the Malay Archipelago and finds the evidence that proves him as the part of author who supports colonialism. The writer uses Edward’s Said Orientalism theory as the major post-colonial theory in this study to investigate the pattern of Orientalism and the evidence of Joseph Conrad as the colonialist author. The writer uses the technique of writing this undergraduate thesis by dividing the extrinsic and intrinsic element of the novel Almayer’s Folly (1895). In the finding and discussion of this undergraduate thesis, the writer reveals the pattern of Orientalism and the evidence of Joseph Conrad as the pro-colonialism author through the binary division in the novel which creates the stereotype of the Orient and compares to the ideal Victorian character depicted in his white characters in the novel. Then, Conrad creates the Western Fantasy toward the Oriental Malay Archipelago as the object for the Westerner in search of adventure, career and positioning the imaginary narrative of European territory as the happy land for the major characters

The Beat of the Economic Heart: Joseph Schumpeter and Arthur Spiethoff on Business Cycles
The paper discusses the relationship between Arthur Spiethoff and Joseph A. Schumpeter, the men and their works. Had it not been for Spiethoff Schumpeter would in all probability have forever been lost to scientific work. It was Spiethoff who brought the Austrian back to academia and research after a sequence of serious mishaps in politics and banking. Spiethoff's contribution to an analysis of business cycles is then summarized and important similarities and some differences between it and Schumpeter's are pointed out. The view of Spiethoff and Schumpeter that cycles are endogenous and cannot possibly be eliminated without at the same time eliminating the dynamism of the capitalist economy is then couterposed with views of some of their contemporaries and particularly modern mainstream macroeconomics that this is not so.Schumpeter; Spiethoff; business cycles; innovations; creative destruction
