Full text linkSolitamente, col termine crisi i sociologi non si riferiscono a difficoltà congiunturali interne ad un sistema, ma ad una tensione strutturale così grande che l’unico risultato possibile è la scomparsa del sistema in quanto tale. Come ha messo in luce Immanuel Wallerstein, questo può accadere o mediante un processo di graduale disintegrazione, che conduce in direzioni imprevedibili, o mediante un processo di trasformazione relativamente controllata, che va verso la costituzione di un nuovo “ordine”. In questo senso, una crisi è, per definizione, una transizione, e le transizioni sistemiche tendono ad essere necessariamente di durata medio-lunga . Il sistema entro cui noi tutti viviamo – che è fondamentalmente un’economia-mondo capitalistica con a fianco diverse microeconomie di mercato – è in transizione verso qualcos’altro. Al momento, però, non vi sono tentativi politici seri per avviare un processo di trasformazione relativamente controllata della crisi stessa. No full textKorean Buddhism had a significant influence on the culture of the Korean Peninsula and it positively influenced the creation of numerous literary and artistic works. The Pǒpsǒngge 法性偈, 법성게 (Hymn ofDharma-Nature), also known with the title Hwaǒm Ilsǔng Pǒpkyedo 華嚴一乘法界圖, 화엄일승법계도 (Single Vehicle of Dharmadhātu Diagram), written by Master Ǔisang 義相, 의상 (625-702), is one of the most treasured among these. Being a summary of the Avataṃsakasūtra, it has been constantly cited by the members of the Hwaǒm school (Hwaǒmjong, 華嚴宗, 화엄종) since it offers a briefer and clearer understanding of the school’s teachings. This article’s main objective is to investigate what kind of influence the Single Vehicle of Dharmadhātu Diagram had on the texts of both the Unified Silla Kingdom and Koryǒ Buddhism and to consider its literary value through the study of works inspired by it.
The first step is to translate the text. Consequentially, the doctrinal aspects contained within the diagram will be analyzed, together with a brief textual examination, in order to find elements helpful in the comparison between the sources. This aims to establish the degree of influence of the original text. To enhance this comparison, doctrinal and some historical elements will always be taken into consideration. The works presented here are the Treatise of the Ocean Seal of Samādhi (Haein Sammae Ron 海印三昧論, 해인삼매론) written by Master Myǒnghyo 明皛, 명효 and the Commentary on the Single Vehicle of Dharmadhātu (Ilsǔng Pǒpkyedo Wǒnt’ong-gi 一乘法界圖圓通記, 일승법계도원통기) by Master

External validation of anti-Müllerian hormone based prediction of live birth in assisted conception
Full text link<p>Background - Chronological age and oocyte yield are independent determinants of live birth in assisted conception. Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is strongly associated with oocyte yield after controlled ovarian stimulation. We have previously assessed the ability of AMH and age to independently predict live birth in an Italian assisted conception cohort. Herein we report the external validation of the nomogram in 822 UK first in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles.</p>
<p>Methods - Retrospective cohort consisting of 822 patients undergoing their first IVF treatment cycle at Glasgow Centre for Reproductive Medicine. Analyses were restricted to women aged between 25 and 42 years of age. All women had an AMH measured prior to commencing their first IVF cycle. The performance of the model was assessed; discrimination by the area under the receiver operator curve (ROCAUC) and model calibration by the predicted probability versus observed probability.</p>
<p>Results - Live births occurred in 29.4% of the cohort. The observed and predicted outcomes showed no evidence of miscalibration (p = 0.188). The ROCAUC was 0.64 (95% CI: 0.60, 0.68), suggesting moderate and similar discrimination to the original model. The ROCAUC for a continuous model of age and AMH was 0.65 (95% CI 0.61, 0.69), suggesting that the original categories of AMH were appropriate.</p>
<p>Conclusions - We confirm by external validation that AMH and age are independent predictors of live birth. Although the confidence intervals for each category are wide, our results support the assessment of AMH in larger cohorts with detailed baseline phenotyping for live birth prediction.</p>

Full text linkNel mondo delle imprese, e non solo, si sta facendo strada la riscoperta degli “asset intangibili” e, tra essi, del "capitale relazionale", quel tipo di capitale, cioè, proveniente dalla specifica posizione occupata da un’impresa o da una persona in un determinato network relazionale. Benefit attuali o future opportunità deriverebbero, dunque, dal far parte di una rete di rapporti, per cui non è tanto importante il possesso di una determinata risorsa, quanto l’accesso a essa attraverso il proprio network. Molto vicino al concetto di capitale relazionale è quello di "capitale sociale", un concetto che negli ultimi trent’anni è stato ampiamente attenzionato dalla riflessione sociologica; ma non si è trattato di qualcosa “di nuovo”, poiché esso – a ben vedere – è sempre stato significativamente presente nei classici della sociologia (seppure sotto altra etichetta), e oggigiorno ha suscitato nuovi interessi in quanto è stato associato a una diagnosi della crisi della società contemporanea, una crisi intesa come erosione dei legami sociali, della fiducia, dell’associazionismo, delle relazioni di amicizia, di vicinato e di comunità
