No full textEn el present treball vull adreçar una mirada complaent a l’institut d’ensenyament secundari Ramon Muntaner de Figueres, amb motiu del seu 175è aniversari, centre en què vaig cursar tot el batxillerat a mitjans del segle passat. A més d’aportar uns textos poc coneguts, el meu objectiu principal ha estat, d'una banda, recordar alguns dels seus trets específics i algunes etapes de la seva llarga història i, de l’altra, destacar uns noms propis del seu professorat (Ernesto Carratalá, Albert Compte, Carmina Pleyán, Ramon Reig) i del seu alumnat (Francesc Cambó, Salvador Dalí, Alexandre Deulofeu, Jaume Miravitlles, Josep Pla, Joaquim Xirau), que, per un motiu o altre, han excel•lit. I també d’aquesta manera, des d’uns noms concrets retre homenatge a tot el col•lectiu de docents de centres d’ensenyament secundari que, amb vocació incombustible, esperit de sacrifici, voluntat de servei i bona preparació científico-pedagògica han ajudat –i molt– a forjar els homes i dones, ciutadans d’ahir i d’avui, protagonistes, des del passat i des del present, d’aquesta Catalunya del segle XXI que aspira a unes noves formes de vida.___________________________________________________________________Dans le présent travail, je veux adresser un regard complaisant au Lycée Ramon Muntaner de Figueras, à l’occasion de son 175e anniversaire, centre dans lequel j’ai fait toutes mes études jusqu’au baccalauréat au milieu du siècle dernier. En plus d’apporter des textes peu connus, mon objectif principal est, d’une part, de rappeler quelques-unes de ses caractéristiques spécifiques ainsi que quelques étapes de sa longue histoire et, d’autre part, de remarquer des noms propres de ses enseignants (Ernesto Carratalá, Albert Compte, Carmina Pleyán, Ramon Reig) et de ses élèves (Francesc Cambó, Salvador Dalí, Alexandre Deulofeu, Jaume Miravitlles, Josep Pla, Joaquim Xirau), qui ont excellé dans un domaine ou dans un autre. Je veux aussi de cette manière, avec des noms concrets, rendre hommage à tout le collectif des enseignants des centres d’enseignement secondaire qui, avec une vocation incombustible, un esprit de sacrifice, une volonté de service, une bonne préparation scientifico-pédagogique ont aidé —et comment !— à forger les hommes et les femmes, citoyens d’hier et d’aujourd’hui, protagonistes, du passé au présent, de cette Catalogne du XXIe siècle qui aspire à de nouvelles formes de vie.This article looks back at the 175 years of history of the Ramon Muntaner secondary school in Figueres, whose sixth form division the author attended during the 1960s. Revisiting some of the most important periods in the school’s history and bringing together, for the first time, a series of valuable texts, the article also recalls some of Ramon Muntaner’s most notable figures. Amongst its teachers, these include Ernesto Carratalá, Albert Compte, Carmina Pleyán, Ramon Reig; and from its alumni, these include Francesc Cambó, Salvador Dalí, Alexandre Deulofeu, Jaume Miravitlles, Josep Pla and Joaquim Xirau. In general terms, however, the article pays homage to all those secondary school teachers who, by dint of their unfailing dedication, self-sacrifice and professional readiness, have helped to form the various generations of Catalan citizens needed to carry society into the twenty-first century.En el presente trabajo deseo dirigir una mirada complaciente hacia el instituto de enseñanza secundaria Ramon Muntaner de Figueres, con motivo de su 175 aniversario, centro en el que cursé todo el bachillerato a mediados del siglo pasado. Además de aportar textos poco conocidos, mi objetivo principal ha sido, por un lado, recordar alguno de sus rasgos específicos y algunas etapas de su larga historia, y por el otro, destacar unos nombres propios de su profesorado (Ernesto Carratalá, Albert Compte, Carmina Pleyán, Ramon Reig) y de su alumnado (Francesc Cambó, S. Dalí, Alexandre Deulofeu, Jaume Miravitlles, Josep Pla, Joaquim Xirau), que por un motivo u otro han destacado. What Makes Help Helpful? Some Thoughts on Ethics of Solidarity Through George Orwell’s Writings

a law firm or a hospital, may be extremely good at offering technical
solutions to people, but when it comes to offering recognition, this is
much more of a challenge. These institutions often lack the ability to ‘be
respectful of each individual’.
Recognition is a central topic –often overseen– in the works of George
Orwell, the English journalist and writer who, after taking part in the
colonial system for five years, decided to ‘expiate his guilt’ by consecutively becoming homeless, taking part in agricultural labor, writing on the living conditions of the English working class and fighting as a militiaman in the Republican side during the Spanish Civil War. It was a process that spanned over several years, in which a well-educated, intellectually brilliant person, confronted and interacted with people of different countries and social backgrounds. The paper examines both failed and successful recognition experiences in Orwell’s life and work, hoping to draw some insights in how recognition works in practice.
The analysis reveals two dramatic points and leads to a pessimistic conclusion: the first point, already presented in the first part of the article, is that without recognition, no act of help will be really helpful. And secondly, real recognition only takes place between individuals. Which leads the author to conclude, confirming the initial suggestion of the paper, that full help cannot be given by any standardized procedure, and depends almost exclusively on the ability, commitment and willingness of individuals.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

No full textEntre vida, Ramon Llinares és un projecte editorial que vol ordenar, dignificar i fer visible l’arxiu fotogràfic de Ramon Llinares que recull fotografies des del 1965 fins a finals de la dècada de 1980. La feina desenvolupada consisteix en un exercici de curadoria, edició de continguts, direcció d’art, disseny gràfic i fotografia. La peça editorial es pensa com un mostrador de l’arxiu per tal de donar-li visibilitat. Vol poder funcionar com a llibre de fotografies i com a presentació de l’arxiu per ser exposat per donar valor a un autor i un material que té un paper diferenciat en el seu context.Entre vida, Ramon Llinares es un proyecto editorial que quiere ordenar, dignificar y hacer visible el archivo fotográfico de Ramon Llinares que contiene fotografías desde 1965 hasta finales de la década de 1980. El trabajo desarrollado consiste en un ejercicio de curaduría, edición de contenidos, dirección de arte, diseño gráfico y fotografía. La pieza editorial se piensa como un mostrador del archivo para darle visibilidad. The interplay of author and editor gender in acceptance delays: evidence from accounting journals
No full textThe objective of this study is to examine the impact of the gender of editors and authors, as well as their interaction, on acceptance delays (ACCDEL) of articles. We focus on genders of the corresponding author and the editor overseeing the manuscript. Using data from three top accounting journals from 2015 to 2020, we conduct a regression analysis to test the hypotheses regarding longer ACCDEL for articles under female editorship or authors, those with gender-opposite editor-author pairs, and those with coincident genders editor-author pairs. We find that when the genders of editors and corresponding authors differ, there is a significant increase in ACCDEL compared to submissions where the genders of editors and corresponding authors match. No full textL’obra i el pensament de Joan Baptista Manyà i Alcoverro resten ignorats en la marginació de les cites col·lectives i dels clixés acadèmics. Es dona una contradicció entre la importància del personatge i l’oblit del seu pensament, al només s’al·ludeix amb obvietats i repeticions de manual. Aquest desconeixement no s’adiu amb la valoració, positiva o negativa, que després es fa del seu ideari filosòfic i teològic. En aquest sentit, Gil i Ribas considera Manyà —juntament amb Maragall, Cardó i Xiberta— com l’exponent més clar del pensament cristià de començaments del segle XX a casa nostra. El propòsit de la nostra tesi és oferir les bigues mestres de la filosofia i teologia de Manyà per llegir adequadament i contextualitzada la seva obra. Considerem que només així es pot fer un judici valoratiu acurat de l’obra manyanista, més enllà de les etiquetes empobridores i simplificadores.La obra y el pensamiento de Joan Baptista Manyà i Alcoverro restan ignorados en la marginación de las citas colectivas y los clichés académicos. En este sentido, Gil i Ribas considera Manyà —junto con Maragall, Cardón y Xiberta— como el exponente más claro del pensamiento cristiano de comienzos del siglo XX en Cataluña. El propósito de nuestra tesis es ofrecer las vigas maestras de la filosofía y teología de Manyà para leer adecuada y contextualizadamente su obra. Consideramos que solo así se puede hacer un juicio valorativo adecuado de la obra manyanista, más allá de las etiquetas empobrecedoras y simplificadoras.The work and thought of Joan Baptista Manyà i Alcoverro remain ignored in the marginalization of collective quotes and school academic clichés. There is a contradiction between the importance of the author and the oblivion of his thought, which is only alluded to with obvious and textbook repetitions. This lack of knowledge is not in keeping with the positive or negative evaluation later given to his philosophical and theological ideas. In this sense, Gil i Ribas considers Manyà —together with Maragall, Cardó and Xiberta— as the clearest exponent of the early 20th century Christian thought in our country. The purpose of this thesis is to offer the master mainstays of Manyà’s philosophy and theology to read his work properly contextualized. We believe that this is the only way to make an accurate assessment of Manyà’s work, beyond impoverishing and simplifying labels
