On the base pressure of 3D turbulent bluff body wakes with sharp separation
Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and pressure measurements are used to study the turbulent wake of Ahmed bluff body. A cavity on the base is created to control the base pressure and modify the recirculating bubble and its equilibrium

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Numerical and affine semigroups
In this work, we study the most outstanding results about commutative semigroups, with the objective of analyzing two issues that involve it, that are currently open: Wilf’s conjecture for numerical semigroups and the geometrical characterization of proportionally modular affine semigroups.
We collect and illustrate various hypotheses under which this conjecture is satisfied, presented in different research papers. Given a numerical semigroup S, Wilf’s conjecture is expressed by n(S)e(S) ≤ F(S)+1, where n(S) is the
number of its smaller elements than its Frobenius number, F(S), and e(S) is its embedding dimension.
We investigate in the geometric study of the proportionally modular affine semigroups, defined as the set of nonnegative integer solutions of an inequality of the form f1x1 + ... + fnxn mod b ≤ g1x1 + ... + gnxn, with f1,..., fn, g1,...,gn ∈ Z and b ∈ N*. Specifically, we give a geometric characterization for some semigroups in two dimensions of such characteristics, providing various algorithms to determine them. This is a part of a joint work with the professors J. I. García-García, A. Sánchez-R.-Navarro, and A. Vigneron-Tenorio
