The tomb of Huy at Dra Abu el-Naga (Luxor - Egypt)

M. Betrò, che diresse una delle UR del progetto, illustra qui, con due suoi giovani collaboratori, il lavoro condotto nella Tomba Tebana 14 (proprietario: Huy), parte della concessione archeologica da lei diretta in Egitto. Nel progetto FIRB la tomba è stata oggetto di un approccio innovativo delle tecniche di Realtà Virtuale in ambito archeologico: la scansione laser 3D, sia della cappella dipinta e delle gallerie funerarie sotterranee che di una selezione dei reperti da esse provenienti, non solo è servita a produrre un modello 3D della tomba e dei suoi reperti scientifico, di alta qualità e assai realistico, ma è stata occasione per sperimentare l’uso in rete del modello stesso in maniera interattiva, come ambiente virtuale in cui diversi utenti possono interagire, scambiare informazioni, simulare e verificare ipotesi alternative

Seven seasons at Dra Abu el-Naga. The tomb of Huy (TT 14): preliminary results
No full textThe book is an account of the results of the first seven seasons of archaeological and epigraphic work by the Italian Expedition of the University of Pisa, directed by Marilina Betrò, in the Ramessid tomb of Huy (TT 14) at Dra Abu el-Naga, in the Theban necropolis (Luxor - Egypt). Since 2004 so far, other tombs, shafts and structures – they too previously unknown and unrecorded – have been discovered by the expedition. The book offers a detailed report on TT 14 and its related excavations, provides a global account of the topography and of the ancient and modern history of the area of Dra Abu el-Naga, among the most neglected archaeological areas of the Theban necropolis, and also gives a preliminary discussion of the results in understanding the history of the different structures so far brought to light, their relationship, and the way they fitted into the surrounding landscape and changed with it. A detailed catalogue of the finds, a rich bibliography and a great number of drawings and pictures, many of them in colour, are provided. Single chapters were entrusted to two young collaborators of M. Betrò, P. Del Vesco and G. Miniaci, educated in Pisa under her supervision. An appendix includes two contributions on the use of innovative computer techniques and devices (3D laser scanning and virtual collaborative environments) in the epigraphic and archaeological recording of TT 14: the application of these technologies was object of a FIRB project in which M. Betrò directed a Research Unit
