I travertini di Carvanno (Brescia). The travertine of Carvanno (Brescia).
The travertine of Carvanno (Brescia) - The lithofacies of travertine of the Carvanno area are
described in detail. These deposits form the core of «Morphological Units» located at different altitudes and
formed in different times during the Pleistocene. The deposition of the travertine is probably, from the evidence
of morphological and morphostructural analyses, connected with the circulation of thermomineral waters
rising through tectonic contacts on the right of the Degagna Valley. Their subsequent levelling to terraces
is due to variations in the base level of the rivers, connected with tectonic movements
Explanation notes of the geological map of the Brescian Prealps between Val Vrenda and M. Pizzocolo.
The geological map of the V. Vrenda-M. Pizzocolo
area (1:25.000) is the partial result of studies carried out
for several years and that are still in progress in the
Brescian Prealps.
The explanatory text briefly describes the different
rock formations as well as Quaternary informal units
and it is completed by a long bibliographical list which
can supply further information to enhance the geological
knowledge and the regional description of this area.
Several variations have modified the previous cartography
and the new data introduce elements to reinterpret
the paleogeographic evolution of the area.
New data allows an updating of the tectonic evolution
of the Prealps; the Quaternary deposits have been distinguished
into several informal stratigraphic units. Geomorphological
symbols complete the map: karst features,
fluvial erosional cliffs, moraine ridges and other
glacial and fluvioglacial features have been mapped, as
well as gravel and limestone quarries

Carta geologica delle Prealpi bresciane tra la V. Vrenda e il M. Pizzocolo. Geological map of the Brescian Prealps between the Vrenda Valley and Mt. Pizzocolo.
Geological map of the Brescian Prealps between the Vrenda Valley and Mt. Pizzocolo. Scale: 1: 25.000. With illustrative notes at http://manhattan.unipv.it/Atti_tic/volume38.htm
Nuovi dati sull'assetto geologico e sull'evoluzione paleogeografica giurassica del M. Coro (Val Sabbia, Brescia). New data n the geologic setting and on the Jurassic paleogeographic evolution of the M. Coro (Sabbia Valley, Brescia, Southern Alps).
The Liassic carbonate sequence outcropping on the
M. Coro area was affected by extensional events causing
its break-up and the sinking of blocks of marginal
platform. The irregular relief was the site of gravitational
slides along new formed fault-slopes. The movement
took place along sub-parallel sets of planes during
the Early Jurassic. Fragments of platform (Corna limestone)
were therefore resedimented at the footwall of
faults (megabreccias) or interbedded as olistoliths into
the pelagic sequence (Medolo Formation) at different
levels. The geological researches, extended outside the
M. Coro area, give moreover evidence of the paleorelief:
highs are located west- and north-wards (Teglie),
lows along the well-exposed section of the Chiese River
(South of Vobarno)
HYDROGEOLOGICAL INVESTIGATON AND RISK ASSESSMENT OF A CHLORINATED HYDROCARBON CONTAMINATION CASE
Neotettonica del territorio bresciano: stato delle conoscenze. In: Fondazione Bresciana per la Ricerca Scientifica, Il rischio sismico nel Bresciano. Elementi per una valutazione
A synthesis of the knowledge on the neotectonics of the Brescian Prealps is presented and discussed
Itinerario n. 1. Lago di Garda (Sponda Bresciana). In: CITA M.B., GELATI R. & GREGNANIN A. (Eds.), Guide geologiche regionali. Alpi e Prealpi Lombarde.
