E-Learning e Semantic Web. Progettazione e Valutazione per la Didattica

    No full text

Lessons learned about language learning and extended reality frameworks

The knowledge of a second language is an obligation in educational systems of the European Community for many years and the quality of teaching and learning, especially in Italy, could be largely improved for a better outcome. Methods like Game-based Learning and Gamification could improve and change this outcome, combined with new tools used as educational technology in an immersive context. This paper presents some lessons learned from the adoption of VR / AR within two applications related to language learning. In this context, being immersed in an engaging and fun simulated situation is a good way to practice language conversations. In the last few years the great clamor of new VR / AR devices (HMD, controller, tracker) promotes the creation of new frameworks of extended reality for language learning

Digital Libraries and Educational Resources: the AquaRing Semantic Approach

Large amounts of scientific digital contents are nowadays held by scientific institutions which collect, produce and store information valuable for dissemination, work, study and research. In this context, the development of the web and of learning technologies has brought new opportunities for teachers and learners to retrieve and share pedagogical objects. This paper introduces the use of a semantic approach developed within the EC funded AquaRing project with the aim of improving access to the vast amount of digital content concerning the aquatic environment and its resources, as well as supporting enhanced education and informal learning in this specific domain. In order to achieve these goals, a semantic framework and an educational ontology were developed and implemented. Both were used to support the indexing of learning resources and to provide several educational services to endusers (especially children, students, parents and teachers)

Semantic Wiki: a collaborative tool for instructional content design

    No full text
The rapid evolving of web technologies has brought to the increasingly diffusion of applications making the Web an interactive social network environment. The World Wide Web Consortium and several research centers are working on the integration of such technologies into the project of a Semantic Web. Consequently, e-learning systems and tools supporting instructional content design could take advantage of these advancements. In this scenario, according to a social-constructivist approach, the authors discuss the adoption of Semantic Wiki as a collaborative environment to design educational contents. The paper will outline the application perspectives and the strategies to adopt, in order to facilitate meaningful learning processes, and the potential advantages that Semantic Wikis would bring from the point of view of knowledge management, as well as for the re-use of learning resources
