Towards an intelligent fault prediction code editor to improve software quality using deep learning
Full text access from Treasures at UT Dallas is restricted to current UTD affiliates (use the provided Link to Article).Software quality assurance has become the pillar for success in software companies. High quality, low maintenance programs can be achieved if fault-prone modules can be identified early in the development lifecycle. In this paper, we propose a new intelligent Integrated Development Environment (IDE) which seamlessly allow programmers to test their code for faults using prior source code databases. Our IDE is built upon deep learning models for making recommendations. The editor also gives scores to programmers on their program design. We evaluate and validate our approach using famous NASA code repositories.Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Scienc
Vasu Sojitra - ninjasticking for a more inclusive outdoors
Vasu Sojitra is a professional athlete and activist based in Bozeman, MT. He is driving an important dialogue about diversity, equity and inclusion in the outdoor space. This conversation might push you to reconsider how you think about people with disabilities, conservation and inspiration. Conversations like this can be uncomfortable and that discomfort is important. Perhaps now more than ever we all need to seek out perspectives that differ from our own. That’s where we learn and grow, and hopefully come together to make society better.
I learned a lot speaking with Vasu and I hope that you do too.https://scholarworks.umt.edu/anewangle_podcasts/1169/thumbnail.jp

CNT Nanoengineering for Thermally Stable Selective Solar Absorption
Solar thermal electricity generation is an appealing green concept, which the efficiency enhancement requires the development of appropriate solar absorbers using an upscalable processing technique. Here, we report on the nanoengineering of carbon nanotubes (CNT) as an approach to design high-performance solar absorbers using oxide materials in a core/shell architecture. Gas-phase synthesis is deployed for the growth of modified CNT cores with infra-red reflecting and low refractive index shell layers. The designed coating fully benefits from the high absorbance of CNTs and the infrared-reflecting properties of Al-doped ZnO irrespective of the nature of the underlying substrate. The nano-engineered CNT-metal oxide design withstands extended exposure to 1000K.

Women Through ‘His’ Reminiscence: Githa Hariharan’s The Ghosts of Vasu Master
GithaHariharan excellently expressed human emotions through the life of Vasu Master. After the retirement he starts jotting down observations, memories and thoughts about teaching. Vasu Master begins to relive incidents from the past and discovers in his own halting but in an imaginative way, the nature of teaching, teacher and pupil. This process of self-discovery is speeded up by the arrival of Mani and this is a sort of self ?discovery. He takes this up as a sort of challenge, and in the process of teaching Mani about the values of life, actually relives his own memories-right from childhood. The novel definitely reminded us of the Panchatantra stories-the usage of plants and animals to explain a point to children. Here, Vasu Master uses the same philosophy while teaching Mani. Vasu Master doesn?t live only in the present but his past also haunts him. He tries to understand his present through memory and dreams. The novel is concerned with well-being on all levels: soul, mind, and body
