Advances in Online Social Networks is creating huge data day in and out providing lot of opportunities to its users to express their interest and opinion. Due to the popularity and exposure of social networks, many intruders are using this platform for illegal purposes. Identifying such users is challenging and requires digging huge knowledge out of the data being flown in the social media. This work gives an insight to profile users in online social networks. User Profiles are established based on the behavioral patterns, correlations and activities of the user analyzed from the aggregated data using techniques like clustering, behavioral analysis, content analysis and face detection. Depending on application and purpose, the mechanism used in profiling users varies. Further study on other mechanisms used in profiling users is under the scope of future endeavors

The development of the rotary hydraulic pressure machine

There currently exists a demand for economical hydro-electric machinery that operates at low heads and moderate flows; sites where the drop from a higher water level to a lower one is quite small, in the order of 1-3m, with flows between 5m3/s and 15m3/s. The economics which determine a machine’s viability are a function of its size and complexity, its efficiency characteristics and its power output. The author believes that the most promising route lies with the Rotary Hydraulic Pressure Machine (RHPM), a concept developed from the Staudruckmaschine (SDM) by Brinnich (2001). This paper analyses the SDM in detail using scale model tests. These tests found that the SDM had many deficiencies resulting in unnecessarily low efficiencies and flow capacity, which is the volume of water which the wheel can process per second per metre width. The scale tests also aided the development of a new detailed theory of operation for wheels operated by hydraulic pressure. Significant modifications are then proposed for the SDM to address its deficiencies. These revise its channel design, blade shape, and support structure. The result is effectively a new machine, the RHPM, which is expected to have a 20% higher efficiency, greater flow capacity and smoother operation than the SDM. The RHPM can be built at any site; however it is especially suitable for incorporation into existing weir structures with minimal modifications being required to the weir structure itself. Furthermore, the RHPM is unlike most conventional rotodynamic machines as it is symmetrical and therefore fully reversible. This property means it also has potential application in tidal flow environments

Online Social Networks (OSNs) facilitate to create and spread information easily and rapidly, influencing others to participate and propagandize. This work proposes a novel method of profiling Influential Blogger (IB) based on the activities performed on one’s blog documents who influences various other bloggers in Social Blog Network (SBN). After constructing a social blogging site, a SBN is analyzed with appropriate parameters to get the Influential Blog Power (IBP) of each blogger in the network and demonstrate that profiling IB is adequate and accurate. The proposed Profiling Influential Blogger (PIB) Algorithm survival rate of IB is high and stabl

RDUP3: Relative Distance based User Profiling from Profile Picture in Multi-Social Networking

    No full text
User Profiling in Online Social Network (OSN) requires the frontal photographs of the users as thier Profile Pictures in Multi-Social Networking. The existing algorithms are ineffective in detecting the facial features like eyes, mouth and nose on the face appropriately, making it inefficient. This work proposes a novel approach to efficiently detect the facial features and improve the effectiveness of face detection and recognition by bifurcating the detected face horizontally, vertically and cropping it. The algorithm is effectively run only on the portion of the detected face Bounded Box (BB) and area to generate bounded boxes of other facial objects and later the Euclidian Distance (ED) between those BBs with respect to that of the face is computed to get Logarithm of Determinant of Euclidian Distance Matrix (LDEDM) in Relative-Distance (RD) method and stored in the database. The LDEDM so computed is unique for every user under consideration and is further utilized for identity matching recognizing from the database. The results show that the Equal Error Rate (EER) is considerably low indicating accurate threshold fixation for better performance with the proposed Relative Distance based User Profiling from Profile Picture (RDUP3) algorithm

Users of Online Social Network (OSN) communicate with each other, exchange information and spread rapidly influencing others in the network for taking various decisions. Blog sites allow their users to create and publish thoughts on various topics of their interest in the form of blogs/blog documents, catching the attention and letting readers to perform various activities on them. Based on the content of the blog documents posted by the user, they become popular. In this work, a novel method to profile Top Most Influential Blogger (TMIB) is proposed based on content analysis. Content of blog documents of bloggers under consideration in the blog network are compared and analyzed. Term Frequency and Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) of blog documents under consideration are obtained and their Cosine Similarity score is computed. Synonyms are substituted against those unmatched keywords if the Cosine Similarity score so computed is below the threshold and an improved Cosine Similarity score of those documents under consideration is obtained. Computing the Influence Score after Synonym substitution (ISaS) of those bloggers under conflict, the top most influential blogger is profiled. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed Profiling Top Most Influential Blogger using Synonym Substitution (PTMIBSS) algorithm is adequately accurate in determining the top most influential blogger at any instant of time considered

Simulating occupant behaviour and energy performance of dwellings: A sensitivity analysis of presence patterns in different dwelling types

    No full text
Influence of occupant behaviour on the energy performance of dwellings is an emerging research topic: Not only the amount of studies is insufficient, but also they provide contradictory results. The aim of this study is to reveal the sensitivity of dwelling energy performance to the presence of occupants in different dwelling types, assuming that presence is the precondition of behaviour. Sensitivity of dwelling energy performance to occupant presence is analysed using Monte Carlo method, which is one of the most commonly used methods to investigate the approximate distribution of possible results (energy performance) on the basis of probabilistic inputs (presence). For this study, the hourly inputs of presence are derived from a database of 319 dwellings in the Netherlands. 4 different types of Dutch reference dwellings are selected for the simulation model: Row house, Corner/Semi-detached, Free standing, and Flat. Steps of the methodology are as follows: (1) Pre-processing behaviour data (the maximum and minimum values of the input parameters); (2) Gathering samples from SimLab pre-processor; (3) Simulating each sample by a dynamic simulation program to collect output data. (The simulations are made with \u84one at a time? approach. Each input is perturbed in turn while keeping all other inputs constant at their nominal value); (4) Combination of inputs and outputs in post-processor of SimLab to run Monte-Carlo analyses. Results of this study showed that presence varies at the weekends more than it does during the weekdays. Corner/semi-detached dwelling is the dwelling type that presence is the most consistent during the weekdays, and row house at the weekend. Flat is the dwelling type that demands the least heating energy, and corner/semi-detached is the most. Weekdays are more influential on the heating energy demand than the weekends. Corner/semi-detached dwelling energy performance is the most sensitive to presence on weekdays, row house at the weekend.OTB Research Institute for the Built Environmen

Simulation is claimed to be an effective tool in building design to degrade the systems integration matter into comprehension of designers with either a tool or a process related approach. In this study, pre-design phase is considered with energy performance point of view. Aim of the study is exploring integration possibilities of building performance simulation tools in building design process by analyzing these tools from design support point of view. Number of building performance simulation programmes, selected according to development goals of them, are evaluated according to their early design phase data requirement and supply of design data in return. Future work will be a real time building project design process observation to find out how specific parameters are decided during concept development and also these parameters’ weighting factors by executing a survey among a group of architects. This will help designers in choosing the most appropriate tool according to their conceptual approach.Architectural Engineering +TechnologyArchitecture and The Built Environmen
