Experimental evidence in favor of the fluctuation origin of the transverse-resistance increase near the edge of the superconducting transition in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ
The experimentally observed increase of the transversal resistance near the edge of the transition in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta epitaxial film is analyzed on the basis of a recent theoretical proposal on its fluctuation origin [L. Ioffe, A. I. Larkin, A. A. Varlamov, and L. Yu, Phys. Rev. B (to be published). It is shown that the excess resistance in a wide range of temperatures increases logarithmically as the superconducting transition temperature is approached from above, in agreement with the theoretical consideration. These results are also compared with the available data on YBa2Cu3O7 compounds
Intertextuality in the stories by Alexei Varlamov
The article deals with the problem of intertextuality in the stories by Alexej Varlamov. The authors provide two meanings of intertextuality as an author’s strategy or style, shaping of a text meaning by another text and the intertextual view of literature critizism. V. Meskin, V. Ratnikova reveal references to the Pushkin’s fairytale “Skazka o care Saltane” and to the intellectual novel “Igra v biser” (“ Das Glasperlenspiel“) written by Hesse in the story “Zdravstvuj, knjaz'!” written by Varlamov
Excess conductivity in 2:2:1:2-phase Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O epitaxial thin films
Measurements of the excess conductivity above the transition temperature on selected, high-quality, superconducting epitaxial films of the 2:2:1:2-phase Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-0 (BSCCO), obtained by liquid-phase epitaxy, are reported. The data confirm the two-dimensional nature of the thermodynamical fluctuations in BSCCO compounds in a wide range of temperature above T(c) and very good agreement is found with an extended version of the Aslamazov-Larkin theory [L. Reggiani, R. Vaglio, and A. A. Varlamov, Phys. Rev. B 44, 9541 (199 1)]
“MYSLENNYI VOLK” (“MENTAL WOLF”) BY ALEXEY VARLAMOV AS A SYMBOLIST NOVEL
The author of the article analyzes poetics of the novel by Alexey Varlamov - a contemporary author, a successor of the traditions of Russian Classic literature of the XIX century. The plot covers the last years of the Russian Empire and the Red Terror that followed the Great October Socialist Revolution of 1917. The novel depicts life and fate of many historical and fictional characters. Analyzing the plot, the composition, the motifs of the novel, the author of the article reveals typological parallels between its poetics and the poetics of Russian Symbolism of the early twentieth century, novels written by Fedor Sologub, Valery Bryusov, and Andrey Bely and his novel «Petersburg». The author concludes the novel written by Alexey Varlamov is an example of symbolism prose

Effect of magnetic field on macroscopic quantum tunneling escape time in small Josephson junctions
Possible fluctuation origin of the anomalies in the C-axis magnetoresistance observed in bi2sr2cacu2o8+x above the critical-temperature
An expression for the transverse magnetoresistance above T-c has been derived from the theory of fluctuation contribution to the c-axis conductivity of layered superconductors under an external magnetic field,, which was recently developed by Dorin et al. The suppression of fluctuations due to the magnetic field leads to a decrease of the negative fluctuation contribution to the conductance, and therefore to a negative transverse magnetoresistance at temperatures not too close to T-c. The formula derived from the theory has been compared with the available experimental data of the magnetoresistance of BSCCO single crystals obtained by Ong et al. at temperatures 10-20 K above T-c. The quadratic increase of the relative magnetoresistance with the field and its temperature dependence are explained clearly. A quantitative fit to the experimental data shows a remarkable agreement of the theory with experiment, and allows to extract the values of several physical parameters
