Group algebras whith symmetric units satisfying a group identity

    No full text
We study group algebras FG for which the symmetric units under the natural involution: g∗ = g−1 satisfy a group identity. For infinite fields F of characteristic ≠ 2, a classification of torsion groups G whose symmetric units) satisfy a group identity was given by Giambruno-Sehgal-Valenti. We extend this work to non torsion groups

    Teatro, informazione e controinformazione

Transient dynamics in driven long Josephson junctions.

The switching time from the superconductive metastable state of a long Josephson junction (LJJ)[1] is computationally analyzed in the framework of the perturbed sine-Gordon equation. The model includes an external bias current term and a stochastic noise source, i.e. a Lévy noise term. The effects of this noise on the mean escape time (MET) from the superconductive state are analyzed. The investigation is performed by considering a wide range of values of system parameters and different noise statistics: Gaussian, Cauchy-Lorentz and Lévy-Smirnov[2]. We found evidence of well known noise induced phenomena on the MET behavior, that is the noise enhanced stability (NES) and resonant activation (RA). Furthermore, the action of the noise source and oscillating bias current on the soliton motion[3] is deeply analyzed. Finally, we take into account a different, more realistic, bias current configuration, by considering an inhomogeneous current density through the junction. Differences in the soliton dynamics are also found in this case. 1. G. Augello, D. Valenti, and B. Spagnolo, Eur. Phys. J. B 70, 145 (2009). 2. G. Augello, D. Valenti, and B. Spagnolo, Eur. Phys. J. The current study aims to investigate individual differences in compliance with these restrictive behaviors. In a sample of Italian individuals (N = 300), we examined whether sociodemographic factors, personality traits, fatalism, and fear could be considered as possible predictors. Methods: We performed a series of standard multiple regression analyses and proposed a mediation analysis to test the associations among variables. Results: Overall, our results suggested that men are less likely to engage in preventive behaviors, younger individuals are more reluctant to adhere to social distancing mandates, and fear has a functional role in predicting positive outcomes. Conclusion: The results of our analyses are discussed and suggestions for future research are provided. Keywords: pandemic, restrictions, protective variables, health behavior

Intraoperative sentinel node detection by an innovative imaging probe. Campisi C, Soluri A, Stella S, Valenti G, Scopinaro F. SourceInstitute of Biomedical Technologies, National Research Council, Rome. [email protected] Abstract Intraoperative tumor detection has been used in many applications, and today the sentinel node technique is a widely employed surgical procedure in breast cancer. Different detector systems are employed but several problems have been reported in clinical practice, in particular the difficulty to accurately detect the sentinel node within the axillary soft tissue. The problem is even greater for abdominal and thoracic tumors. We propose an innovative Imaging Probe (IP) able to visualize on a monitor the primary tumor and secondary lesions if appropriately radiolabeled. The IP can be optimally applied for minimally invasive surgery in breast cancer treatment, and a preliminary experience related to 15 patients and 20 sentinel nodes is reported here. We compared the results obtained with the IP to those obtained with an Anger camera and a traditional scintillation detector, and found them to be very promising. In particular the surgeon's work is greatly facilitated by direct visual guidance instead of a generic acoustic signal. PMID:12369557[PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE

Sistema igienico di apertura e chiusura lattine

    No full text
