A computational Method to Investigate the Acoustic Field of Axi-Symmetric Cavities

This paper is aimed to study a technique to determine the acoustic internal field of an axi-symmetric cavity using the eigenfunctions of a cylindrical box with rigid walls. The proposed method refers to a previous work developed by Succi when studying the internal noise of general cavities. He proposed an integral formulation for the vibroacoustic problem where the Green function is expressed in terms of the eigensolutions of a rectangular box containing the cavity. When consider cavities resembling cylindrical boxes, the above approach is not too precise, so that in this paper the used Green function is given by a series expansion of the eigensoutions of a cylindrical box with rigid walls containing the considered cavity. The obtained results indicate that this approach provides accurate and computationally convenient solutions for acoustic axi-symmetric cavities (e.g. aircraft and aerospace systems)
