Sous-facteurs de L(F∞) d'indice 4cos2π/n,n≥3
Let Q be a factor of type II1, λ a number in the Jones discrete series {4cosπ/m:m≥3}, and {ei} the Jones projections associated with λ. Denote by A2n and A1n the finite-dimensional von Neumann algebras generated, respectively, by {1,e2,⋯,en} and {1,e1,⋯,en}, with the corresponding traces. The author shows that, for n sufficiently large, the index of the inclusion An=(Q⊗A2n)∗A2nA1n⊂(Q⊗A2n+1)∗A2n+1A1n+1=An+1 is equal to λ (here ∗ denotes the reduced, amalgamated free product of the algebras in question). Using the random matrix model of Voiculescu, he proves that if Q is the von Neumann algebra L(F∞) of the free group with infinitely many generators, then An is isomorphic to L(F∞).
The two facts together imply the existence, for any λ in the Jones discrete series, of an irreducible subfactor of L(F∞) of index λ. This constitutes the first example of a nonhyperfinite, non-Γ II1 factor such that its Jones invariant is fully computable (the existence of nonirreducible subfactors of L(F∞) for any index ≥4 is a simple consequence of known results)
The volume collects the expanded and revised versions of the presentations discussed during the conference titled "Politics and Administration. Ethics, Managerialism, and Accountability," organized in honour of Gianfranco D’Alessio. The focus is on administrative leadership, discussed and analysed from two perspectives. Firstly, in relation to the constitutional principles of impartiality and good administration. Secondly, with reference to the relationship it establishes with political bodies. The topic is approached from various angles and multiple perspectives, reflecting the diversity of skills and experiences, both professional and academic, of each author

Logarithmic variance profiles and the corresponding f-1 spectra of temperature fluctuations in turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection
We report experimental results for the temperature variance 2(z) and the corresponding frequency spectra P(f) in turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection (RBC) in a cylindrical sample of aspect ratioT= D/L = 1:00 (D = 1:12 m is the diameter and L = 1:12 m the height). The measurements were conducted in the Rayleigh-number range 1011 < Ra < 1:35 1014 and Pr ' 0:8. For Ra = 1:35x1014, 2(z) could be described well by a logarithmic dependence on the vertical position z in a range of z 1 < z < z 2 with z 1 ' 70 and z 2 = 0:1L. Here L=(2Nu) is the thickness of a thin thermal sublayer adjacent to the horizontal plate where the heat flux (denoted by the Nusselt number Nu) is carried mostly by thermal diffusion. In the log layer, we found that the temperature spectra had a significant frequency range over which P(f) f with close to 1. As Ra decreased, increased so that the log layer became thinner. At Ra = 2:05 1011, z 2 < z 1 and therefore there was no range for a log layer. Correspondingly, the temperature spectrum near the horizontal plate did not have the f1 scaling form either
l-modular blocks of Rep_k(SL_n(F))
Let F be a non-archimedean local field with residual characteristic p, and k an algebraically closed field with characteristic l, where l different from p. Let Rep_k(SL_n(F)) be the category of smooth k-representations of SL_n(F). In this work, we establish the block decomposition of Rep_k(SL_n(F)) under the condition that p does not divide the order of the Weyl group of SL_n(F).Affiliation changed. The author corrects some errors in section 4 and section 5 in the previous versio

Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM).
Acad?micas do campus.
As Unidades
Acad?micas com estrutura departamental demostram estabilidade no
Disserta??o (Mestrado Profissional) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Educa??o, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2015.Higher education in Brazil and in the world is set in a context of constant
change. The challenges that universities face such as the pressure to increase
the number of openings, to insert technologies, and to meet competitiveness
are strongly related to the potential relevance they may achieve in their
countries. Brazilian public universities are considered extremely bureaucratic
and too slow in executing their demands, especially being the locus of
knowledge. Public service management is a topic of great interest throughout
the country, especially when it comes to the management of materials,
technology, personnel and financial resources, as it affects the welfare of the
whole society and the economic development of the country. This research was
developed from a historical perspective on the changes that are happening
within the Federal Public Universities, using as object of study the
Administrative Academic Units set at the JK Campus of Universidade Federal
dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM). The methodology adopted was
that of exploratory research through the documentary analysis method As
reference, UFVJM normative documents, Statute and General Regiment were
used, , besides the normative documents kept in the campus? Academic Units.
The results point to documentary disorganization, lack of norms in the units, as
well as lack of clarity regarding duties and liabilities. The Academic Units
structured in departments have presented better quantitative results in terms of
research and extension essential elements for the establishment of a
University
Effect of tungsten disulfide (WS2) nanotubes on structural, morphological and mechanical properties of poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) films
Poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) is a semicrystalline, biocompatible and biodegradable polymer widely employed in many applications (food packaging, biomedical devices, drug delivery systems). This work deals with nanocomposites of PLLA and tungsten disulfide (WS2) nanotubes (NTs) as a novel material to obtain thinner and stronger bioresorbable vascular scaffolds. We studied the influence of WS2 NTs on the mechanical properties of PLLA-WS2 films. Polarized optical microscopy reveals a high degree of orientation of the polymer molecules in stretched films that further increases with a post-stretching annealing treatment. At the same time, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy confirm enhancement of the crystallinity induced by the WS2 NTs. © 2018 Author(s)
L-invariants for cohomological representations of PGL(2) over arbitrary number fields
Gehrmann L, Pati MR. L-invariants for cohomological representations of PGL(2) over arbitrary number fields. Forum of Mathematics, Sigma. 2024;12: e71.**Abstract**
Let
be a cuspidal, cohomological automorphic representation of an inner form
G
of
over a number field
F
of arbitrary signature. Further, let
be a prime of
F
such that
G
is split at
and the local component
of
at
is the Steinberg representation. Assuming that the representation is noncritical at
, we construct automorphic
-invariants for the representation
. If the number field
F
is totally real, we show that these automorphic
-invariants agree with the Fontaine–Mazur
-invariant of the associated
p
-adic Galois representation. This generalizes a recent result of Spieß respectively Rosso and the first named author from the case of parallel weight
to arbitrary cohomological weights.
