'Aproximación poliédrica a la cuestión del género en la literatura infantil y juvenil' se centra en los análisis críticos desde diferentes perspectivas del tratamiento del género en los libros destinados a niñas, niños y adolescentes. Los estudios que en este libro se presentan ofrecen una exploración multidimensional de las cuestiones de género en la literatura que van más allá de las simples nociones binarias de masculino y femenino

Swelling of responsive-microgels: experiments versus models

Interpenetrated Polymer Network (IPN) microgels of PNIPAM and PAAc have been investigated and the experimental data have been compared with theoretical models from the Flory–Rehner theory. We confirm that the swelling behavior of PNIPAM microgels is well described by this theory by considering the second order approximation for the volume fraction φ dependence of the Flory parameter χ(φ). Indeed the Volume-Phase Transition (VPT) of the PNIPAM-PAAc IPN microgel at neutral conditions and in D2O solvents can be well described only considering a third-order approximation. Interestingly we empirically find that sharper is the transition higher is the order of the χ(φ) relation which has to be considered. Moreover the VPT can be experimentally controlled by tuning the polymer/solvent interactions through pH and solvent allowing to directly modify the delicate balance between energetic and entropic contributions and to explore the swelling behavior in a wide range of environmental conditions. In particular we find that the most advantageous condition for swelling is in water at acidic pH

The Complier Pays Principle: The Limits of Fiscal Approaches Toward Sustainable Forest Management

    No full text
This paper examines the role and impact of taxation on sustainable forest management. It is shown that fiscal instruments neither reinforce nor substitute for traditional regulatory approaches and can actually undermine sustainability. The paper uses the reasoning at the root of the Faustmann solution to draw conclusions on the incentives for sustainable tropical forest exploitation. It proposes a bond mechanism as an alternative market-based instrument to encourage sustainable forest logging while reducing monitoring costs. Copyright 2001, International Monetary Fund

Isotopic effect on the aging dynamics of a charged colloidal system

    No full text
A dynamic light scattering (DLS) investigation of the isotopic H/D substitution on water molecules in aqueous Laponite suspensions is reported for two Laponite weight concentrations (C-w = 1.5% and C-w = 3.0%). Increasing the deuterium percentage results in a slowing down of the dynamics for both concentrations, although the aging behavior of the suspensions is not qualitatively modified by the isotopic substitution. A scaling law for the isotopic effect is found. The relaxation times and the stretching parameters collapse on two distinct master curves, indicating that the two previously found dynamical behaviors of colloidal gels and glasses are preserved. These results may facilitate a large variety of experimental techniques and further theoretical investigations about the role of the solvent in determining the interaction potential

Vibron and roton bands in the first overtone of solid and liquid parahydrogen

    No full text
The infrared spectrum of the rotovibrational band v=0→2 of parahydrogen has been observed in the condensed phases down to T=2 K. In the solid, phonon and roton sidebands exhibit peaks corresponding to those observed in the fundamental. Contributions arising from the reorientation of ortho-H2 impurities have been detected. The Q1(0)+S1(0) band has been resolved into an asymmetric doublet, and the origin of this latter is discussed. In the liquid phase the observed line shapes include strong translational contributions, and are accounted for by assuming that at short times the excited molecule is encapsulated in the cage of nearest neighbors. © 1994 The American Physical Society
