In the framework of the OECD/NEA/CSNI/WGAMA, an activity on the “Status report on thermal–hydraulic passive systems design and safety assessment” has been conducted. Within this activity, a benchmark exercise, based on the experimental data developed in the full scale PERSEO (in-Pool Energy Removal System for Emergency Operation) component separate effect test facility, built at SIET (Piacenza, Italy), has been proposed and carried out. An “OPEN” benchmark exercise, hosted by ENEA, has been conducted. Twelve results from eleven Organizations were submitted. PERSEO is a full-scale separate effect test facility designed to study a new passive decay heat removal system operating in natural circulation. Test 7 is a full pressure test (7 MPa) and investigates the system stability and the system operation. The accuracy of the calculated results has been evaluated both qualitatively and quantitatively. The latter has been conducted adopting the Fast Fourier Transform Based Method. The present paper summarizes the main features of the PERSEO facility and Test 7 and discusses the main results and outcome of the benchmark exercise.</p

Assessment of relap5-3d for application on in-pool passive power removal systems
This research investigates the capability of RELAP5-3D© to reproduce relevant thermal-hydraulic phenomena which characterize the operation of an in-pool passive power removal system. The activity has been carried out in the framework of a validity benchmark proposed within the OECD/NEA/CSNI/WGAMA “Thermal-hydraulics of passive safety systems in water-cooled reactors”, involving the PERSEO (in-Pool Energy Removal System for Emergency Operation) facility. The experimental system offers useful data for the assessment of computational tools. It reproduces an innovative passive decay heat removal (DHR) system, based on an Isolation Condenser (IC), operating in natural circulation, submerged in a pool. The Department of Astronautical, Electrical and Energy Engineering (DIAEE) of “Sapienza” University of Rome has developed a thermal-hydraulic model of PERSEO, using RELAP5-3D© v.4.3.4. The capability of the code to evaluate heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) in pool boiling and laminar wavy condensation modes, has been recognized as a relevant weakness. Indeed, under the operative conditions of the PERSEO facility, the correlations implemented in the code to evaluate HTC, are forced to work out of the validity range. For this reason, two multiplicative factors, derived on the basis of different correlations available in the literature, have been evaluated and included in the model to enhance the HTC. The comparison between computational results and experimental data has shown a satisfactory agreement, confirming the necessity to improve the HTC evaluation to overcome the criticalities highlighted by the code
Impurity flow measurements with Coherence Imaging Spectroscopy at Wendelstein 7-X
An experimental investigation of particle parallel flows has been carried out at Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X), one of the most advanced stellarators in the world. The studies are restricted to the outermost plasma region, the scrape-off layer (SOL), which is shaped to tackle the exhaust problem in vision of future fusion reactors based on plasma magnetic confinement. The aim of the measurements is to set the basis for a physics analysis of the SOL dynamics by obtaining direct information on convective heat transport, together with the assessment of the predominant flow directions of the main plasma ions and of fusion-products or wall-released impurities. In this way, a better comprehension of the interplay between the transport parallel and perpendicular to the SOL field lines can be achieved, contributing to the understanding of the effectiveness of the island divertor configuration.
The chosen instrument for the experimental studies is the Coherence Imaging Spectroscopy (CIS) diagnostic, a camera-based interferometer capable of measuring 2D Doppler particle flows associated with a selected visible line from the plasma. The diagnostic is distinguished by its high time resolution and spatial coverage, allowing the visualisation and measurements of flow velocities for a full module of W7-X simultaneously. A CIS diagnostic has been fully designed for W7-X with an improved level of accuracy achieved thanks to the implementation of a new calibration source, a continuous-wave-emission tunable laser. The laser allowed a full characterization of the diagnostic and a frequent precise calibration, making the CIS system reliable for parallel flow investigations during the operational campaign OP1.2. The validity and importance of the CIS measurements have been further confirmed with dedicated simulation of the SOL plasma parameters by the EMC3-EIRENE code, and by comparisons with other edge diagnostics. The CIS results show the effects related to dynamical changes in the SOL due to impurity gas puffs or the development of a plasma current. Moreover, CIS can be used as a powerful tool to test the limits of the current theoretical models, for example in the case of forward and reversed field experiments.Am Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X), einem der fortschrittlichsten Stellaratoren der Welt, wurde eine experimentelle Untersuchung von Teilchenparallelströmungen durchgeführt. Die Untersuchungen beschränken sich auf den äußersten Plasmabereich, den Scrape-Off-Layer (SOL), die so geformt ist, dass das Abgasproblem in der Vision zukünftiger Fusionsreaktoren, die auf dem magnetischen Plasmaeinschluss basieren, angegangen werden kann. Ziel der Messungen ist es, die Grundlage für eine physikalische Analyse der SOL-Dynamik zu schaffen, indem direkte Informationen über den konvektiven Wärmetransport zusammen mit der Bewertung der vorherrschenden Strömungsrichtungen der Hauptplasma-Ionen und der Fusionsprodukte oder von der Wand abgelösten Verunreinigungen gewonnen werden. Auf diese Weise kann ein besseres Verständnis des Wechselspiels zwischen dem Transport parallel und senkrecht zu den SOL-Feldlinien erreicht werden, was zum Verständnis der Wirksamkeit der Insel-Divertor-Konfiguration beiträgt.
Das für die experimentellen Studien gewählte Instrument ist die Coherence- Imaging-Spektroskopie (CIS) Diagnostik, ein kamerabasiertes Interferometer, das in der Lage ist, 2D-Doppler-Teilchenströme zu messen, die mit einer ausgewählten sichtbaren Emissions-Linie aus dem Plasma assoziiert sind. Das Diagnosegerät zeichnet sich durch seine hohe zeitliche Auflösung und räumliche Abdeckung aus und ermöglicht die gleichzeitige Visualisierung und Messung von Strömungsgeschwindigkeiten für ein ganzes Modul von W7-X. Eine CIS-Diagnose wurde vollständig für W7-X entwickelt, wobei dank der Implementierung einer neuen Kalibrierquelle, eines durchstimmbaren Lasers mit kontinuierlicher Wellenemission, eine verbesserte Genauigkeit erreicht wurde. Der Laser ermöglichte eine vollständige Charakterisierung der Diagnose und eine häufige präzise Kalibrierung, wodurch das CIS-System für Parallelflussuntersuchungen während der Betriebskampagne OP1.2 zuverlässig betrieben wurde. Die Gültigkeit und Bedeutung der CIS-Messungen wurden durch eine spezielle Simulation der SOL-Plasmaparameter mit dem EMC3-EIRENE-Code und durch Vergleiche mit anderen Diagnostiken bestätigt. Die CIS-Ergebnisse zeigen die Auswirkungen dynamischer Änderungen im SOL bei Zugabe von Spurengas oder der Entwicklung des Plasmastroms. Darüber hinaus kann CIS als leistungsstarkes Werkzeug verwendet werden, um die Grenzen der aktuellen theoretischen Modelle zu testen, zum Beispiel im Falle von Feldumkehrexperimenten
Main clinical features in patients at their first psychiatric admission to Italian acute hospital psychiatric wards. The PERSEO study
Abstract Background Few data are available on subjects presenting to acute wards for the first time with psychotic symptoms. The aims of this paper are (i) to describe the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of patients at their first psychiatric admission (FPA), including socio-demographic features, risk factors, life habits, modalities of onset, psychiatric diagnoses and treatments before admission; (ii) to assess the aggressive behavior and the clinical management of FPA patients in Italian acute hospital psychiatric wards, called SPDCs (Servizio Psichiatrico Diagnosi e Cura = psychiatric service for diagnosis and management). Method Cross-sectional observational multi-center study involving 62 Italian SPDCs (PERSEO – Psychiatric EmeRgency Study and EpidemiOlogy). Results 253 FPA aged Conclusion Subjects presenting at their first psychiatric ward admission have often not undergone previous adequate psychiatric assessment and diagnostic procedures. The first hospital admission allows diagnosis and psychopharmacological treatment to be established. In our population, aggressive behaviors were rather frequent, although most commonly verbal. Psychiatric symptoms, as evaluated by psychiatrists and patients, improved significantly from admission to discharge both for FPA and non-FPA patients.</p
Modelamiento geomecánico a partir del logueo e interpretación de las perforaciones diamantinas dentro del cuerpo mineral perseo de la mina El Roble
Ilustraciones, gráficasLa empresa Minera El Roble a lo largo de su historia ha presentando varios cuerpos mineralizados sobre los cuales se ha enfocado su explotación de concentrado de cobre; para este caso particular se toma el cuerpo mineralizado Perseo y se realiza una interpretación de las condiciones geomecánicas del macizo rocoso a partir del análisis de la información resultante del logueo geotécnico de las perforaciones diamantinas direccionadas hacia este target. Con esta información se realiza un modelamiento en 3D para obtener una representación visual acertada de las condiciones mas favorables para la realización de cualquier proyecto enfocado a la extracción de este cuerpo. Acá en este trabajo, se muestra el logueo geotécnico de los diferentes sondajes diamantinos y como con esta información se hace posible realizar una breve interpretación de las zonas mas favorables para el desarrollo de los proyectos mineros futuros en la empresa.The company Minera El Roble throughout its history has presented several ore bodies on which it has focused its exploitation of copper concentrate; for this particular case the Perseo ore is taken and an interpretation of the geomechanical conditions of the rock massif is made from the analysis of the information resulting from the geotechnical logging of diamond drilling directed towards this target. With this information, a 3D modeling is made to obtain an accurate visual representation of the most favorable conditions for the realization of any project focused on the extraction of this body. Here in this work, the geotechnical logging of the different diamond drillings is shown and how with this information it is possible to make a brief interpretation of the most favorable zones for the development of future mining projects in the company.CONTENIDO / 1. Perseo y el espejo. Autobiografía y literatura en la europea
Perseo se enfrentó a una realidad amenazadora sin mirarla de frente, contemplándola reflejada en su broquel, y mediante el reverbero oblicuo triunfó sobre la gorgona Medusa. Así también Pérez de Ayala refleja en sus escritos sus preocupaciones biográficas (éticas e intelectuales), sin adoptar la forma literaria autobiográfica y frontal de recurrir al yo confesional. Es el juego especular de ofrecer al lector la realidad que ve el autor, pero sin aparecer éste en un relato que gana en distanciación y objetividad. La obra resulta más creíble y anuda con eficacia un pacto de convicción con el autor. El trabajo analiza la presencia en la obra de Pérez de Ayala de elementos biográficos poco conocidos porque lo son de su biografía intelectual. Se trata de textos y situaciones de obras de otros escritores claramente reflejados, parafraseados ο glosados en algunas de las de Pérez de Ayala, Cadalso, Clarín y Unamuno con los autores cotejadosPersée a affronté une réalité menaçante sans la regarder en face, la contemplant reflétée dans son bouclier, et, à travers la réverbération oblique, il a triomphé de la gorgone Méduse. L’article analyse la présence, dans l’œuvre de Pérez de Ayala, d’éléments biographiques peu connus, car ils appartiennent à sa biographie intellectuelle. Il s’agit de textes et de situations d’œuvres d’autres écrivains, qui sont clairement traduits, paraphrasés ou glosés dans quelques-unes de celles de Ferez de Ayala.
