Further properties of Stepanov--Orlicz almost periodic functions
summary:We revisit the concept of Stepanov--Orlicz almost periodic functions introduced by Hillmann in terms of Bochner transform. Some structural properties of these functions are investigated. A particular attention is paid to the Nemytskii operator between spaces of Stepanov--Orlicz almost periodic functions. Finally, we establish an existence and uniqueness result of Bohr almost periodic mild solution to a class of semilinear evolution equations with Stepanov--Orlicz almost periodic forcing term
Stepanov-like C(n)-pseudo almost automorphy and applications to some nonautonomous higher-order differential equations
Tyt. z nagł.References p. 468-470.In this paper we introduce and study a new concept called Stepanov-like C(n)-pseudo almost automorphy, which generalizes in a natural fashion both the notions of C(n)-pseudo almost periodicity and that of C(n)-pseudo almost automorphy recently introduced in the literature by the authors. Basic properties of these new functions are investigated. Furthermore, we study and obtain the existence of C(N+m)-pseudo almost automorphic solutions to some nonautonomous higher-order systems of differential equations with Stepanov-like C(m)-pseudo almost automorphic coefficients.Dostępny również w formie drukowanej.SŁOWA KLUCZOWE : KEYWORDS: pseudo almost automorphic C(n)-pseudo almost automorphy, Stepanov-like C(n)-pseudo almost automorphy, exponential dichotomy
RECONSTRUCTION OF MANIFOLD EMBEDDINGS INTO EUCLIDEAN SPACES VIA INTRINSIC DISTANCES
We consider the problem of reconstructing an embedding of a compact connected Riemannian manifold in a Euclidean space up to an almost isometry, given the information on intrinsic distances between points from its “sufficiently large” subset. This is one of the classical manifold learning problems. It happens that the most popular methods to deal with such a problem, with a long history in data science, namely, the classical Multidimensional scaling (MDS) and the Maximum variance unfolding (MVU), actually miss the point and may provide results very far from an isometry; moreover, they may even give no bi-Lipshitz embedding. We will provide an easy variational formulation of this problem, which leads to an algorithm always providing an almost isometric embedding with the distortion of original distances as small as desired (the parameter regulating the upper bound for the desired distortion is an input parameter of this algorithm)
Crystal growth, characterization, and point-contact Andreev-reflection spectroscopy of the noncentrosymmetric superconductor Mo 3 Al 2 C
We report on the first successful growth of single crystals of the noncentrosymmetric superconductor Mo3Al2C obtained by means of a cubic-anvil, high-pressure, and high-temperature technique. Composition, structure, and normal-state transport properties of the crystals were studied by means of x-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility, and resistivity measurements as a function of temperature. Variations in critical temperature (Tc) between 8.6 and 9.3 K were observed, probably due to the slightly different carbon stoichiometry of the samples. Single-crystal x-ray refinement confirmed the high structural perfection of the grown crystals. Remarkably, the refined Flack parameter values for all the measured crystals using a P4132 space-group model were consistently close to either 0 or 1, hence indicating that the considered crystals belong to two enantiomorphic space groups, P4132 and P4332. An anomaly in the resistivity is observed at 130 K, most likely associated with the onset of a charge-density-wave phase. The superconducting properties (and in particular the symmetry, the amplitude, and the temperature dependence of the superconducting gap) were studied by using point contact Andreev-reflection spectroscopy. The results confirm that Mo3Al2C is a moderately strongly-coupled superconductor with 2Delta/kBTc = 4 and unambiguously prove that the order parameter has an s-wave symmetry despite the asymmetric spin-orbit coupling arising from the lack of inversion symmetry
Evidence for two-gap nodeless superconductivity in SmFeAsO1−xFx from point-contact Andreev-reflection spectroscopy
Point-contact Andreev-reflection spectroscopy measurements were performed in SmFeAsO_(1−x)F_x polycrystals with x=0.09 (Tc~42 K) and x=0.20 (Tc~52 K). In all cases the experimental conductance curves reproducibly exhibit low-energy peaks and higher-energy shoulders (at 4-6 and 16-20 meV, respectively, for x=0.20), which indicate the presence of two nodeless superconducting gaps. While the single-band Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk model can only reproduce a small central portion of a given conductance curve, the two-gap one accounts remarkably well for the shape of the whole experimental dI /dV vs V curve. The fit of the normalized curves gives Delta_1(0)=6.15+-0.45 meV and Delta _2(0)=18+-3 meV for x=0.20, while for x=0.09 the values Delta_1(0)=4.9+-0.5 meV and Delta_2(0)=15+-1 meV are obtained. In all cases, both gaps close at the same temperature and follow a BCS-like behavio
A generalization of an inequality of Stepanov
AbstractLet Γn(p) denote a random graph with n vertices in which any two vertices, independently of the others, are connected by an edge with probability p = 1 − q where 0 ≤ q ≤ 1. Denote by Qn(q) the probability that Γn(p) is connected. In 1970 V. E. Stepanov proved that Qn(q) ≤ (1−qn)n−1 for n ≥ 1. In this paper a simple proof is given for a general inequality related to the connectedness of Γn(p) which contains Stepanov's inequality as a particular case

Nutritional Value of Apiaceae Seeds as Affected by 11 Species and 43 Cultivars
The fragmentary literature data on Apiaceae seed antioxidant potential elicited a comparative
evaluation work of seed biochemical profile between 11 species and 43 cultivars grown in similar
conditions: anise, lovage, fennel, coriander, caraway, parsley, celery, dill, carrot, parsnip and chervil.
Among the different solvents, temperature and duration regimes applied, 70% EtOH, 80 C and
1 h running showed the best extraction efficiency of antioxidants. Total antioxidant activity (AOA)
decreased as follows: lovage > anise > parsley > celery > fennel = dill > coriander > caraway > parsnip
> carrot > chervil. Lovage, anise and fennel demonstrated the highest levels of total phenolics (TP),
AOA and potassium. A positive correlation was recorded between total dissolved solids (TDS) and K
and between AOA and TP content (r = 0.86 and r = 0.79 respectively, at p < 0.001). Varietal differences
in AOA and TP levels were much lower than those relevant to TDS, K and water soluble protein
(WSP), while the highest differences were found for selenium (Se). Two parsley cultivars showed
anomalously high Se content and four dill cultivars unusually high levels of TDS and potassium. A
positive correlation arose between Se and WSP levels in parsley seeds (r = 0.85 at p < 0.05)
Ag+-ion implantation of silicon
© 2018 A. L. Stepanov, V. I. Nuzhdin, V. F. Valeev, V. V. Vorobev, and Y. N. Osin The new results on the optical reflection of the Si surface layers implanted by silver ions at low energies of 30 keV over a wide dose range from 5.0 × 10 14 to 1.5 × 10 17 ion/cm 2 are presented. As the ion dose of irradiation was increased, a monotonic decrease in the reflection intensity in the ultraviolet region of the spectrum was observed, due to amorphization and macrostructuring of the Si surface. On the other hand, in the long-wavelength region, a selective reflection band appears with a maximum near 830 nm due to plasmon resonance of Ag nanoparticles synthesized during implantation
