FPGA-based time-integrating multichannel correlator for Noise Radar applications
Multichannel time integrating correlator has been implemented in FPGA Xilinx Virtex 6 using X6-1000M board from Innovative Integration Inc. A new implementation of relay correlator for FPGA has been suggested and tested. The approach suggested enables exclusion of multipliers usage that saves FPGA resources, which, in particular, allows increasing of the working range of Noise Radar. The developed correlators have performances sufficient for design of noise radar according to the software defined radar concept, such as homeland security sensors, ground based SAR, and radar tomography enabling generation of 2D and 3D coherent SAR images and radio-films
Noise radar design based on FPGA technology: On-board digital waveform generation and real-Time correlation processing
The results on the use of arbitrary waveform generators that are based on FPGA technology for generation of complex signals in modern noise radars are presented. On the basis of these devices we propose a radar scheme with digital generation of noise waveforms for both sounding signal and reference and analog processing. Experimental results show efficiency of FPGA-based application in radar with variety of sounding waveforms. Multichannel time integrating correlator has been implemented in FPGA Xilinx Virtex 6 using X6-1000M board from Innovative Integration Inc. The developed correlator has a performance sufficient for design of noise radar according to the software defined radar concept for short-range applications, such as homeland security sensors, ground based SAR, and radar tomography enabling generation of 2D and 3D coherent SAR images and radiofilms.

Methods for generation of probing signals in software defined noise radar
Software Defined Noise Radar (SDNR) design requires elaboration and implementation of both digital random signal generators and efficient algorithms for digital estimation of cross-correlations in Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). A new method for forming of the NR transmitted signal that enables to go around the main problems of SDNR implementation. The basic idea of the method consists in utilizing both bands of the up-converted signal spectrum, bringing them as close as possible, provided filling a gap between them with local oscillator signal, which might be random as well. In the paper we describe a simple algorithm for digital random signals generation in FPGA, its brief characterization and also some results of computer simulation of noise radar signal formation using suggested approach for VCO signal modulation by random digitally generated noise waveform. In addition, FPGA based implementation of time-integrating correlator, which is suitable for SDNR design is described
FPGA implementation of relay-Type correlator for noise radar applications
A new implementation of multiplier-less relay correlator in FPGA has been suggested and tested. The novel approach suggested enables exclusion of multipliers usage that saves FPGA resources and, hence, increases number of parallel channels in digital time integrating correlator, which, in particular, speed up target range & velocity estimation and extends Noise Radar working range. All this provides a good basis for design of a software defined Noise Radar with digital generation of radar signals and coherent processing of radar returns in real-Time mode
Multiplier-less Correlator for Noise SAR Imaging
Correlation function estimate using one-bit reference signal is described and results of FPGA-based implementation of multi-channel time-integrating correlator without multiplication operation (multiplier-less correlator) is described. Results of experimental evaluation of the suggested multiplier-less relay correlator implemented in Innovative Integration X6-1000M board with Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGA and arbitrary waveform generator Euvis AWG472 are presented
