Is it hyperlexia? Toward a deeper understanding of precocious reading skills in two cases of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
No full textBackground: Hyperlexia is defined by a precocious and sponta-neously acquired ability to read at preschool age. Hyperlexia appears to be a wide yet not highly studied phenomenon involving different populations and possibly including children with different neuropsy-chological profiles and outcomes. Methods: We describe two clinical cases of unrelated children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who both showed precocious and spontaneous reading ability. We report the neuropsy-chological assessment they underwent. Results: Both children showed above average IQ, reading skills, and text comprehension, whereas one showed below average comprehen-sion only in oral text. We question whether these two phenotypes can be considered forms of hyperlexia, as defined by the most recent and consistent observations, or a subtype of ASD with hyperlexia. Conclusion: We conclude that our patients should be considered hyperlexic ASD, with interesting potential implications for progno-sis and rehabilitation
Project of controlling instruments implementation in public administration
No full textTato diplomová práce, která je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část, je zaměřená na možnosti zavádění controllingu ve veřejné správě. V teoretické části je vysvětlen nejprve význam slova controlling, jeho druhy, finanční plán a finanční prognóza, dále zvláštnosti con-trollingu v neziskových organizacích, finanční systém územní samosprávy a nakonec zkuše-nosti se zaváděním controlligu ve veřejné správě. Praktická část zahrnuje stručné představení Města Veselí nad Moravou, poté analýzu ekono-mické situace s okomentováním zjištěných předností a nedostatků. Obdobná struktura je pro-vedena i u vybraných příspěvkových organizací. Další část je věnována konkrétnímu návrhu projektu implementace nástrojů controllingu u Města Veselí nad Moravou a u příspěvkových organizací. Práce je zakončena vyhodnocením potenciálních přínosů a rizik projektu a jeho celkovým zhodnocením.This graduation theses is devided into theoretical and practical part. It is aimed to the possibi-lities of controlling implementing in the public administration. In theoretical part you can find at first the definition of the word "controlling", its types, financial plan and financial progno-sis. Further there are mentioned the specialities of controlling in non-profit associations, fiscal system of municipal authorities and experiences with the implementing of controlling in public administration in the end. Practical part involves the brief introduction of the town Veselí nad Moravou, after it the eco-nomic situation analysis with the commentation of found advantages and disadvantages. The analogical structure is made at selected allowance organizations too. The other part of this theses is given to concrete project design of controlling instruments implementation at town Veselí nad Moravou and at allowance organizations. No full textNa lokaciji Masleničkog mosta urađena su strukturno-tektonska. geofizička i inženjerskogeološka istraživanja, istražna bušenja i laboratorijska ispitivanja uzoraka. Za istraživano područje karakteristična je Maslenička antiklinala. Izgrađena je od vapnenaca kredne starosti. Antiklinala ima asimetričan oblik s vergencijom osne ravnine prema sjeveru. Prisutni su reversni rasjedi s recentnom aktivnošću. Recentna aktivnost dokazana je nalazom presječene sige s pomakom od 11 cm, čija starost je 36000 god. Na sasvim mladim sigama u špilji na zapadnoj strani nisu uočeni pomaci. Za povratni period od 500 godina progno¬ziran je mogući maksimalni pomak veličine do 2,0 cm. Manje špilje dimenzija do 1 m3 nastale su na presjecištima reversnih rasjeda i većih pukotina. Kanjon Novsko ždrilo nastao je u zoni smicanja rasjeda s desnim tektonskim transportom.
Prema stupnju razlomljenosti izdvojene su inženjerskogeološkim istraživanjem tri karakteristične sredine. Prema »Geomehaničkoj klasifikaciji« (RMR) prva sredina odgovara II, do III. klasi, druga sredina odgovara IV. klasi, a treča sredina odgovara V. klasi (milonit).
Originalne inženjerskogeološke podloge nisu omogućile, zbog složenosti građe terena, direktnu primjenu u analizi odnosa naprezanja i deformacija. Zbog toga su izrađeni simplificirani geotehnički modeli. Oni su omogućili projektiranje temeljenja u stijenskoj masi i saniranja dijelova slabe kvalitete.On the site of Maslenica bridge structural tectonic, geophysical and engineering geological investigations, geotechnical drilling and laboratory sample testings were performed. Maslenica anticline is characteristic for the investigated area. It is built from the limestone of Cretaceous age. The anticline has an asymmetrical form with the vergence of the axial plane towards the north. Reverse faults with recent activities are present. The recent activity was proved by the discovery of the broken stalactite with the displacement of 11 cm, whose age is 36000 years. On quite young stalactites (stalagmites) in the cave on the west side, no displacements were noticed. For the next period of 500 years the maximal possible displacement of 2.0 cm is foreseen. Smaller caves with the dimensions of 1 m3, were formed on the intersections of the reverse faults and greater joints. The canyon Novsko ždrilo was formed in the fault shear zone with tectonic transport to the right.
According to the range of fracture, three characteristic types of rock masses were separated by engineering geological investigations. According to »Geomechanical classification« (RMR) the first type corresponds to II to III class, while the second type corresponds to IV class, and the third type corresponds to V class (mylonite).
Because of the complexity of the terrain structure, original engineering geological bases of design have not enabled the direct application of the analysis of stress-strain behaviour. Because of that the simplified geotechnical models were done. They enabled the projecting of foundation in the rock mass and renewal of poor quality rock mass
Biocultural perspectives on birth defects in medieval urban and rural English populations.
No full textThe biocultural and epidemiological approaches have been used as investigative methods by which to assess the prevalence of birth defects of the axial skeleton among five English Medieval population samples (Raunds Fumells, Northamptonshire; the hospital/almshouse of St James and St Mary Magdalene, Chichester, West Sussex; St Helen-on-the-Walls, York; Wharram Percy, East Yorkshire, and the Augustinian Friary cemetery, Hull, Humberside).The author hypothesises that Medieval urban populations produced offspring with higher frequencies of skeletal defects because they were subject to the adverse health-mediating effects of higher population density. These include poor quality, frequently overcrowded living conditions, poor sanitation, increased rates of disease threat and transmission, poorer quality food and drink due to pollution and adulteration, and greater levels of industrial-related air and water pollution. The author proposes that this response was a consequence of the impaired interaction between a population-wide compromised nutritional status and a co-existing weakened immune response. It is proposed that rural populations will express significantly lower frequencies of the same skeletal defects, as they are not subject to the same adverse environmental effects of population density and urban living conditions. The results support this hypothesis among the four populations derived from burial grounds associated with residential areas, whilst the Hull population expresses a rural pattern of defect prevalence, raising questions of possibly limited, exclusive access to burial at that site, available to non-urban dwellers. The author suggests that similar reproductive effects may be found today in populations undergoing demographic transition, for example, those experiencing the process of urbanisation in the developing world, or those migrating to the developed West. The author also shows how the results, when viewed alongside the medical literature, may indicate the presence of soft-tissue anomalies which are invisible to those working with dry bone. Pandemic Sends a Divided Economy on a Rollercoaster Ride - IW Economic Forecast Spring 2021
No full textDie deutsche Konjunktur ist auf der Angebots- und Nachfrageseite gespalten. Konsum und Teile der Dienstleistungsökonomie durchleben erneut kräftige Ein-brüche. Exporte und Teile der Industrie werden von der anziehenden Weltwirtschaft begünstigt. Die Weltwirtschaft wird 2021 um 5 Prozent zulegen, sie ist aber ebenfalls gespalten: China und die USA stützen die Weltkonjunktur, der Euroraum schwächelt aufgrund der dritten Infektionswelle. Der Rückgang des realen BIP in Deutschland im ersten Quartal 2021 und die im zweiten Quartal wieder ansteigenden Infekti-onszahlen dämpfen die Erwartungen für das Gesamtjahr. Das IW rechnet für 2021 nur noch mit einem Wachstum von 3 Prozent. Erst Anfang 2022 wird das Vorkrisen-niveau wieder erreicht. Unter der Annahme einer erfolgreichen Zurückdrängung der Pandemie und keiner Verschlechterung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit und Stand-ortqualität dürfte die deutsche Wirtschaft im Jahr 2022 um gut 4 Prozent zulegen. Der Private Konsum wird 2021 aufgrund der Geschäftseinschränkungen stagnieren, nachdem er 2020 um 6 Prozent einbrach. Die Inflationsrate zieht aufgrund von Steuereffekten an, sie bleibt aber unter 2 Prozent. Die Ausrüstungsinvestitionen kommen nur zögerlich in Fahrt und es werden erst im Jahr 2022 die starken Ein-brüche von 2020 aufgeholt. Die Bauinvestitionen wachsen langsam, aber konstant. Im Gefolge der konjunkturellen Erholung wird die Anzahl der Erwerbstätigen wie-der zunehmen, das Vorkrisenniveau aus dem Jahr 2019 wird allerdings im Progno-sezeitraum noch nicht wieder erreicht. Der steigende Anteil der Langzeitarbeitslo-sen erschwert die schnelle Rückführung der Arbeitslosigkeit in Deutschland. Das staatliche Haushaltsdefizit wird 2021 in Deutschland auf 4 ¾ Prozent des BIP weiter ansteigen und 2022 rund 3 Prozent des BIP betragen.The German economy is divided on both the supply and demand sides. Consumption and parts of the service economy are again experiencing sharp falls while exports and some industrial sectors are be-nefiting from a worldwide economic recovery. Global business will grow by 5 per cent in 2021 but not uniformly: China and the USA are currently the pillars of the global economy, while the euro area is weakening due to a third wave of infections. The first quarter decline in Germany's real GDP and the second quarter's rising infection figures are again dampening expectations for 2021 as a whole. The German Economic Institute (IW) expects growth of only 3 per cent this year and a return to pre-crisis activity levels only early in 2022. Assuming that the pandemic is successfully suppressed and both competitiveness and Germany's attractiveness as a location for investment hold up, the country's economy should grow by a good 4 per cent in 2022. Having slumped by 6 per cent in 2020, private consumption will stagnate in 2021 as a result of the constraints on business. Fiscal changes will acce-lerate inflation, which will nonetheless remain below 2 per cent. Investment in machinery and equipment is picking up only slowly and is unlikely to make good the sharp declines of 2020 until next year, but investment in construction is making modest but steady progress. As the economy recovers, the num-ber of those in gainful employment will enjoy an upturn but is not expected to regain the pre-crisis level of 2019 within the timescale of this forecast. A rising share of long-term unemployed will make it difficult to cut unemployment in Germany rapidly. Germany's budget deficit will continue to rise, rea-ching some 4 ¾ per cent of GDP in 2021, with around 3 per cent expected in 2022
