    No full text
When Regis University created the eSecurity curriculum in 2003, the lessons were pertinent to the then-current threats. Although the curriculum has slightly changed since then, the courses needed a major facelift to meet the ever changing cyber threats. The question of can Information Assurance courses at Regis University be refreshed to include virtual labs so they are based on ethical standards will be answered in this paper. Utilizing the Design Science methodology and incorporating Bloom â„¢s Taxonomy and the Jesuit educational approach, curriculum was identified and developed for the classroom and online students. By working with the Regis Distance Learning department, the thesis project was submitted for publication as part of the Regis Computer Networking courses

Collaboration with Denver-area public libraries allowed Regis University to help local alumni obtain remote access to a number of their favorite online journal databases. The Regis librarians worked with Quipu Group, a company specializing in database solutions for libraries, to develop a searchable online database, Online Journals 24×7 (OJ 24×7). The database serves to inventory and profile e-resources available at their public libraries. This article describes the history of the Regis project, including creation of the OJ 24×7 database, marketing efforts, and future plans

Dissecting Departure: a Study of Student Withdrawal Surveys at Regis University

    No full text
This study examined the cases of all traditional-aged undergraduate students departing Regis College, a division of Regis University, a private, Jesuit institution in Denver, Colorado, during the 2008-2009 academic year. Data from student withdrawal surveys were analyzed to decipher the reasons why students leave Regis College. Research unearthed that the current withdrawal survey form provides insufficient and misleading information about students\u27 reasons for leaving Regis College. 20 percent of students left for medical reasons, with 16 percent departing for unknown reasons and 15 percent for financial reasons. These data indicated that modifications to the withdrawal survey, the withdrawal process, and the overall retention effort would be needed in order to capture more data and improve the retention rate

The Athletic Identity and Cognitive Emotional Responses of Regis University Student Athletes in the Face of COVID-19

COVID-19 impacted the entire world. One specific population of individuals who suffered from implications of the novel coronavirus was athletes. As the virus spread around the globe and quarantine regulations were being established, athletes across various competition levels experienced cancellations of their sport seasons. This event led many athletes to lose their athletic identity; the degree to which one identifies with the athletic role. Individuals who develop a stronger, more exclusive athletic identity are likely to experience more difficulties when sport related transitions like injury or retirement occur. In the present study, I predicted that athletes who have a higher athletic identity would implement less adaptive cognitive emotional responses to the cancellation of the 2020 competition season due to COVID-19. This hypothesis was tested using the Athletic Identity Measurement Scale and the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire on Regis University student-athletes. I found a non-significant relationship between athletic identity and each cognitive emotional regulation strategy and that Regis University student-athletes employed adaptive responses more commonly than maladaptive responses. These results suggest that despite having a strong athletic identity, Regis University athletes utilized strong coping skills in response to the chaotic changes that COVID- 19 induced. The present study contributes to the broader field of identity and the implications that the coronavirus had on the lives of athletes

Retention is a growing concern for the undergraduate adult program at Regis University. Action research, specifically the Pearce and Robinson action research model, was used to fully understand the issue and create solutions. The Spring 2004 new start cohort was analyzed to find reportable data. Feedback was taken from a member of the Student Success Team regarding the spring cohort, and staffs from three departments were interviewed. Collaboration is central to action research and the team that was developed helped interpret the data. This collaboration team then put together three recommendations. The final recommendation suggested for implementation is to make the Student Success Team a centralized resource for student success
