The UA University Press: historical overview of its publishing services
Get PDFEste texto traça o percurso da atividade editorial da Universidade de Aveiro (UA), desde o seu início em 1996, de forma regular e institucionalizada, com a nomeação de uma Comissão Editorial, até à situação presente. Com o objetivo de “promover, dinamizar, coordenar e dirigir, permanentemente, a execução da actividade editorial da UA”, a editora passou por diversas etapas de reorganização, como são os casos da reestruturação da Comissão Editorial, passagem da coordenação e execução da atividade editorial da UA para a já extinta Fundação João Jacinto de Magalhães (FJJM), em 2001 até à sua integração nos Serviços de Biblioteca, Informação Documental e Museologia (SBIDM), em 2013, sob a designação de UA Editora. Assente numa estrutura tripartida pelos atuais SBIDM, Serviços Financeiros e SCIRP, a UA Editora enfrenta inúmeras dificuldades, mas também muitas oportunidades. Estas refletem-se na necessidade de dotar a editora com meios capazes de dar resposta à atividade editorial da UA, evitando que uma grande parte do que é editado seja feita fora da UA Editora, mas também na possibilidade de lançar desafios à comunidade potencial autora.This paper aims to follow the editorial path of the University of Aveiro (UA), from its institutional inception in 1996, which included the development of a Publishing Committee, to the present day. Its objective is to “continuously promote, develop, coordinate and manage the books published at the UA”, and it has been through a number of restructuring phases from the reorganisation of the Publishing Committee, to the transfer of the coordination and implementation of publishing procedures at the UA to the now inactive FJJM (João Jacinto de Magalhães Foundation) in 2001 and its assimilation into the SBIDM (Library, Documental Information and Museological Services) in 2013, under the name UA Editora (UA Publishers). The structure of UA Publishers is based on a tripartite structure which includes the SBDIM, the Financial Services and the SCIRP (Communication, Image and PR Services) and it has encountered a number of difficulties as well as many opportunities. O Baptista tinha trabalhado no LFEN durante uns anos – numa breve passagem de um percurso de Alentejano errante que deixou uma forte marca pelos vários sítios por onde passou – e, nessa altura, estava em Coimbra, preparando-se para mudar para a UA e arrancar com um novo departamento ligado à cerâmica e ao vidro. Securing javascript runtime of OPC UA deployments
No full textOPC UA is a commonly used machine-to-machine communication protocol. As it is used in industrial critical infrastructure, its security is vital. OPC UA has several proprietary and open-source implementations in different programming languages. Among them, a JavaScript implementation node-opcua stands out due to advantages such as ease of use, code maturity etc. JavaScript is a just-in-time compiled programming language that is executed by a runtime system. Node.js is the most common runtime environment to run JavaScript programs. Deno is it a potential and unofficial successor as it is developed by the original author of Node.js. One promised improvement of Deno is the focus on higher security, such as having a restricted file system and network access by default. Since (1) not all libraries have been adopted yet for for Deno, since (2) this new runtime comes with a compatibility mode featured first in version v1.15, since (3) there is very few research literature yet and since (4) there is no current dedicated OPC UA implementation for Deno so far, we present and evaluate measures to overcome errors when running node-opcua on Deno in this paper
