    Trinity College Commencement Book

The Commencement Book is a small, early-19th century record book that all recipients of Trinity degrees touch during Commencement ceremonies. According to legend, the Commencement Book is used as the result of a mix-up. College President Thomas Church Brownell intended to use a Bible in the first commencement ceremony in 1827, but either couldn\u27t find one or realized he didn\u27t have it with him, and so used his personal record book instead. The book is inscribed with Latin prayers and commencement ceremony exercises dating from 1849, as well as signatures from college president inaugurations
