No full textThis treasury warrant was issued in Austin by the State of Texas. It is payable in Dollars of the Confederate States of America. The warrant is bordered on all sides by ornate imprinted designs. The left edge of the note contains four vertical rows of border imprints with 'Gazette Office, Austin' imprinted vertically within them. The phrase 'County Warrant.' is imprinted in the upper center of the note in an ornate shadow case serif font. Imprinted images of banners appear to the left and right of the phrase. The leftmost banner contains the imprinted abbreviation 'No.' and the handwritten value '1158'. The rightmost banner contains an imprinted dollar symbol and the handwritten value '2.50'. Below and to the left, the phrase 'The State of Texas,' is imprinted in an ornate uppercase serif font, accompanied below by 'County of Travis.' imprinted in an uppercase serif font. An imprinted right-facing bracket appears to the right of the phrases. To the left, 'Austin,' is imprinted in a bold serif font followed by an imprinted line where the date 'Feb. 22, 1862' is handwritten. The digits '185' are imprinted, and the 5 is crossed out with a handwritten line. 'The Treasurer of the County of Travis' is imprinted below in an uppercase ornate serif font. Below, in the center of the note, imprinted phrases appear in an italic serif font. The first phrase begins 'Will pay to' followed by an imprinted line and the handwritten 'John W. Brown,' and continues 'or Order, the sum of' followed by an imprinted line and the handwritten 'Two'. The imprinted phrase continues below, 'Dollars and' followed by an imprinted line where 'Fifty' is handwritten, followed by 'Cents, as Claim allowed' followed by an imprinted line where 'him' is handwritten. The phrase continues, 'at the' followed by an imprinted line where 'February' is handwritten. The imprinted phrase continues below, 'Term of the said County Court, 185 , for' where '185' is altered by handwriting to read '1862'. The phrase is followed by an imprinted line where 'Services as Co Coroner [?], Travis County, February Term 1862.' is handwritten. The imprinted phrase continues, 'out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated.' Below, the word 'Attest:' is imprinted in a script font.
