From nominal to true a posteriori probabilities: an exact Bayesian theorem based probabilistic data association approach for iterative MIMO detection and decoding
It was conventionally regarded that the existing probabilistic data association (PDA) algorithms output the estimated symbol-wise a posteriori probabilities (APPs) as soft information. In this paper, however, we demonstrate that these probabilities are not the true APPs in the rigorous mathematicasense, but a type of nominal APPs, which are unsuitable for the classic architecture of iterative detection and decoding (IDD) aided receivers. To circumvent this predicament, we propose an exact Bayesian theorem based logarithmic domain PDA (EB-Log-PDA) method, whose output has similar characteristics to the true APPs, and hence it is readily applicable to the classic IDD architecture of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems using the general M-ary modulation. Furthermore, we investigate the impact of the PDA algorithms' inner iteration on the design of PDA-aided IDD receivers. We demonstrate that introducing inner iterations into PDAs, which is common practice in PDA-aided uncoded MIMO systems, would actually degrade the IDD receiver's performance, despite significantly increasing the overall computational complexity of the IDD receiver. Finally, we investigate the relationship between the extrinsic log-likelihood ratio (LLRs) of the proposed EB-Log-PDA and of the approximate Bayesian theorem based logarithmic domain PDA (AB-Log-PDA) reported in our previous work. We also show that the IDD scheme employing the EB-Log-PDA without incorporating any inner PDA iterations has an achievable performance close to that of the optimal maximum a posteriori (MAP) detector based IDD receiver, while imposing a significantly lower computational complexity in the scenarios considered

Adaptive multi-channel MAC protocol for dense VANET with directional antennas
Directional antennas in Ad hoc networks offer more benefits than the traditional antennas with omni-directional mode. With directional antennas, it can increase the spatial reuse of the wireless channel. A higher gain of directional antennas makes terminals a further transmission range and fewer hops to the destination. This paper presents the design, implementation and simulation results of a multi-channel Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols for dense Vehicular Ad hoc Networks using directional antennas with local beam tables. Numeric results show that our protocol performs better than the existing multichannel protocols in vehicular environment

Phase-rotation-aided relay selection in two-way decode-and-forward relay networks
This paper proposes a relay selection scheme that aims to improve the end-to-end symbol error rate (SER) performance of a two-way relay network (TWRN). The TWRN consists of two single-antenna sources and multiple relays employing decode-and-forward (DF) protocol. It is shown that the SER performance is determined by the minimum decision distance (DD) observed in the TWRN. However, the minimum DD is likely to be made arbitrarily small by channel fading. To tackle this problem, a phase rotation (PR) aided relay selection (RS) scheme is proposed to enlarge the minium DD, which in turn improves the SER performance. The proposed PR based scheme rotates the phases of the transmitted symbols of one source and of the selected relay according to the channel state information, aiming for increasing all DDs to be above a desired bound. The lower bound is further optimized by using a MaxMin-RS criterion associated with the channel gains. It is demonstrated that the PR aided MaxMin-RS approach achieves full diversity gain and an improved array gain. Furthermore, compared with the existing DF based schemes, the proposed scheme allows more flexible relay antenna configurations

Evolvement of DRM Schema: From Encryption to Interoperability and Monitoring
Abstract. By reviewing DRMs up to now and two typical examples – AVS DRM and DMP IDP, the paper tries to find out the fundamental challenge of content protection approach from technical and social viewpoints. Not only it is difficult to deploy and update content encryption and security infrastructure, but also the content diffusion is limited and Fair Use is affected. The new schema for DRM should content monitoring system in public space that prevents illegal diffusion of content in copyright but permits content being used freely in private space or for social liberty. The traditional rights in analog times will fluently move to digital space under the proposed schema. Keywords: DRM, Protection, Interoperability, Authentication, Monitoring.
