Kata Kunci: Konflik, JAI, FPI, AdvokasiConflict concerning the existence of Indonesian Ahmadiyah congregation (JAI) still happens today. This is done based on governor regulation of West Java no. 12 of 2011 concerning the activities prohibition of Ahmadiyah congregation in West Java, legal opinion of MUI, and the result of the 18th Muhammadiyah congress in Solo. Even though, JAI has actually obtained legal recognition of Indonesian government based on Decree of the Minister of Justice No.JA.5 / 23/13 March 13, 1953. Because of the ongoing conflicts, JAI has not yet been approved peacefully and often gets discrimination. In this article, the author analyzed the main causes of the conflict between FPI (Front Pembela Islam) and JAI in Tasikmalaya. Here, the author proposes other ways that can resolve conflicts occurred because litigation advocate efforts have been unable to control conflict between the two. Keywords: Conflict, JAI, FPI, Advocat

Multiferroicity and magnetoelectric effect in novel complex oxides

    No full text
Multiferroic materials, in which ferroelectric and magnetic ordering are simultaneously present, exhibit unprecedented physical properties due to the coupling between electric and magnetic order parameters. The significant cross-coupling effects in the newly found materials have invigorated research in multiferroics as they offer a new route toward fundamental understanding of how spin and lattice degrees of freedom interact and produce macroscopic phenomena. Furthermore, the emergence of multiple functional properties in such materials has stimulated the application in future generations of novel devices in which polarization can be controlled by a magnetic field or vice versa. Recently, the search for an enhanced coupling between dual order parameters has led to discoveries of new class of materials called magnetism-driven ferroelectrics. In such materials, ferroelectricity is induced by a fundamental new mechanism, by which magnetic orders with broken inversion symmetry result in ferroelectric distortions through exchange striction. The magnetic origin of their ferroelectricity engenders highly sensible ferroelectric properties to applied magnetic fields. Herein, we present discoveries of new multiferroics which reveal intriguing interplays between ferroelectricity and magnetism: (1) Thermal and magnetic reversal of electric polarization in the conical spiral multiferroic, CoCr2O4, (2) Collinear-magnetism-induced ferroelectricity of the Ising chain magnet Ca3CoMnO6, and (3) Multiferroicity in the square-lattice antiferromagnet of Ba2CoGe2O7. The rich physical phenomena among these new materials unveil a fascinating nature of multiferroicity.Ph.D.Includes bibliographical referencesby Young Jai Cho

Institutions for more sustainable cities: eco-efficiency and equity improvements for better environmental management

    No full text
Along with the rapid urbanization of growing populations and the affluence of consumer society, the goal of sustainable development becomes a core challenge of managing highly urbanized cities. The N-shaped EKC implies that Korean cities have recently failed to prevent the occurrence of the second turning point where increasing generation of waste began to accompany rising income. The cross-sectional comparison of household income shows that well-off households generate more waste compared to those with fewer resources. The construction projects of large-scale facilities are not designed to the appropriate scale of industrial ecosystems for small players. Market failures put constraints on the function of the markets for recyclables and recycled products. The adversarial politics of authoritarian technocrats in favor of capital creates a structural barrier to democratic deliberation for sustainable development. An efficiency-oriented, single-medium approach manages the risks of waste by diverting it, and also aggravates a steady increase in waste generation. The success of sustainable cities depends on a shift in both prevailing paradigms and institutional arrangements. Focusing on the criticality of inducive and deliberative institutions, this research recommends the institutions conducive to eco-efficiency and equity improvements for the better environmental management of sustainable cities. As a lowest effective unit for addressing the sustainability issues, cities need to redefine the appropriate scale for resource-circulating symbiosis, and to dispose of waste close to its source according to the proximity principle. The responsibilities of stakeholders must be proportionate to the waste generation for which they are accountable. For the purpose of affecting the scattered choices that are individually small but cumulatively very large, user involvement can be improved by fine-tuning the policy mix according to the characteristics of corresponding target stakeholders. Procedural participation cannot always work as an easy panacea for equity problems in environmental decision-making, and must move further forward to deliberative democracy. The complementarity based on the subsidiarity principle can guide partnerships among different levels of government, the private sector, civil society and other stakeholders. The upper-level governments need to foster local pilot initiatives by subsidizing and nurturing their transboundary benefits. Finally, as cities are required to fulfill their overall authority and responsibility to their full potential, decentralized governance in its early stage should be oriented toward a substantial process of transferring powers and resources, as well as responsibilities and functions, to local tiers of government and enhancing intermunicipal cooperation.Ph.D.Includes bibliographical referencesIncludes vitaby Seong-Jai Ki

MicroRNA in the Tumor Stroma: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Implications

    No full text
In this chapter, the author highlight dysregulated MicroRNAs (miRNA), as potential therapeutic targets in different tumor stromal cells describe their functions in the regulation of the tumor microenvironment. They also discusses the role of tumor-related miRNAs as biomarkers for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. TAMs show the ability to promote the tumor development and progression by enhancing angiogenesis, immune suppression, tumor cell invasion, and metastatic programming of tumor tissue, and thus reducing patient survival. MiRNAs can also be delivered by inorganic nanoparticle–based vectors, such as gold nanoparticles, iron-nanoparticles and silica-based nanoparticles. Tumor stroma plays an essential role during tumor growth, thus targeting tumor stromal cells provides possibilities to inhibit the promotion activities in tumor progression and metastasis. The authors summarizes various miRNA delivery approaches that have been or can potentially be applied to deliver miRNA as therapeutics into the stromal cells

Chapparby Jai Prakash Kardam: A Comprehensive Study

    Get PDF
The paper intends to deal with the plight of Dalits and their miserable condition in Jai Prakash Kardam\u27s Hindi novel Chappar first published in 1994. The book highlights the social disparity and discrimination faced by Dalits, whether rural or urban. The still existing feudalism in Indian villages compels Dalits to abide by social norms framed in the interest of the landlords, Brahmins or the dominants. The entrenched caste system deprives Dalits to access educational institutes. They are denied even to touch scriptures as they have been reserved for upper castes only. The novel also exposes the cruel treatment of powerful, bureaucrats, policemen and politicians toward Dalits. The Ambedkarite ideology ignites the radical minds of Dalit youths in setting out a movement of liberation and emancipation which is the base of the book. \u27Dalit women\u27, the phrase narrates endless horrible incidents in the lives of Dalit women as they are raped, gang-raped, harassed, humiliated, abandoned or even forced to commit suicide or live a life of curse in their own land. The author has raised all these serious issues confronted by Dalits in a small village setting along with various other social problems in urban areas. The present paper attempts to explore the horrible narratives, incidents and challenges through the extensive reading of the characters and their actions. How they achieve their target of egalitarian society? Who and what are the forces behind the struggle against the dominants besides the community? Do the Dalit women accept their fate of curse passively or dare to challenge the self-proclaimed authorities
