David W. Thompson
David W. Thompson, 22, a former student of Technical High School admitted to writing an extortion letter to former principal, G. B. Trimble, as a way to extort money from him in the value of $2,000. Thompson entered a plea of guilty before United States commissioner Milam at his arraignment on charges of mailing threatening letters on December 19th. Thompson stated that he wrote the letter before he was upset at Trimble for falsely accusing me of conspiracy against the school. Abstract: A letter from W. G. Hann to Thompson M. Parish, concerning the transfer of Hann's slave Lucy to Parish in lieu of a debt, October 19, 1847.Scope and Content Note: This collection consists of a letter dated October 19, 1847, from Hann to Thompson M. Parish of Lake Providence, Louisiana, agreeing to Parish's proposal to take Hann's slave Lucy in lieu of payment for a debt, if that debt is as much as $500, Hann being uncertain of the exact amount since his books are not with him.
