Status of Disability in Myanmar (Saw Thandar Win, 2021)
The health care of human beings in the world is changing and developing, there
are still people with disabilities at all levels in every society and in all parts of the world.
Disability is an important issue for every country. In this thesis, the status of disability
in Myanmar is studied with the aims to study the types of disabled persons by urban,
rural, states and regions, and the Disability-Free Life Expectancy (DFLE) of people in
Myanmar. Based on the findings, the male disabled population is higher than the female
disabled population, for the younger age-group. But the female disabled population is
greater than the male disabled population for the elderly age-group. When the disabled
people by sex in urban and rural areas are compared, both male disabled population and
female disabled population in urban areas are less than those in rural areas.
Furthermore, the disabled persons in seeing, walking, remembering, and hearing can be
found in both urban and rural areas. Besides, it is observed that people with mild level
of disability in all age-groups, in all states and regions, in both urban and rural areas,
and literate people with mild level of disability are more than people with other levels
of disabilities. Generally, when the percentages of life-spent disability-free of males
and females are analyzed, it is observed that females in all age-groups are expected to
be likely to be more disabled than males in all age-groups because the percentages of
life-spent disability-free of males are more than the percentages of life-spent disabilityfree of females

Analysis on Challenges and Opportunities of Small and Medium Enterprises Growth in NayPyiTaw Union Territory( A Case Study of Service Enterprises) ( Ei Thandar Win, 2024)
This study examines the current status of SMEs service sector in Nay Pyi Taw
Union Territory, Myanmar by exploring their challenges, opportunities, and potential
for sustainable growth by using both primary and secondary data. Descriptive method
is applied, including stakeholder interviews with 168 SMEs. Data is collected from
168 SMEs through structured questionnaires by accessing their financial performance,
market strategies, legislation, government support, and business challenges. The study
find that SMEs in Nay Pyi Taw operate in moderated financial health, effective
market strategies, and positive perceptions of legislation, while some key challenges
are noted as finance access, skilled labor shortages, and market competition. The
study finds that 70% of businesses are hindered by labor shortages and competition,
while a growth opportunity is driven by customer service, operational efficiency, and
market expansion. Government support is insufficient in areas such as financial
assistance, infrastructure, and regulatory simplicity. SMEs wish to get a chance for
tax reduction and get a government loan that is enough for their requirement
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
A Study on the Four Types of Pagodas Found in Bagan
The bulbous stupas worshipped by the Buddhist pilgrims are now called ‘Cetiyas’. It cannot be said that the dolmens were the beginning of stupas. Later the stupas were built not only in the commemorable places called saṁvejaniya but also in the prosperous Buddhist regions as the places of worship for lay people. In Myanmar, the stupa, known as the cetiya (in pāli), went through a number of changes. The parasol on top of the dome was elongated and resembled a cone, and the number of disks increased and their size decreased, the higher they are on the dome. The square base was also modified following a complex geometry, including different levels with terraces, and resembled the shape of a pyramid. A lot of evidence still remains in Bagan for those who want to study the stupas and temples in Bagan. This includes the pagodas in good conditions, the remains of ruins the pagodas, the stone inscriptions denoting the good deeds, some mural paintings remaining in the pagodas and stuccos embellished the beauty of the pagodas
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
IMPACT OF GENDER ON RICE PRODUCTION ACTIVITIES AND RURAL LIVELIHOODS IN MAUBIN AND DAIK U TOWNSHIPS
Marginal resource productivity and livelihoods by gender in rice production were studied in Maubin and Daik U Townships. Eighty-three male-headed households and fifty-five female-headed households were collected from Maubin and Daik U Townships by using purposive random sampling method. The results showed that 47% of male household heads was in the active age (35-50 years) while female household heads (40%) were in the older age group (51-65 year). About 91.6% of male household heads were still married whereas half of female household heads were widows and singles. It was found that the main income source of both types of households was crop income and the second was non-farm income. About 40% of female-headed households had earned above the average annual income whereas 33.7% of male-headed households generated income above the average income. Sin Thu Kha, HnanKar and Hmawbi-2 were the economically important rice varieties in monsoon rice production. The t-test showed that there were no significant differences between the benefit-cost ratios of Sin Thu Kha (1.18, 1.26), HnanKar (1.16, 1.12) and Hmawbi-2 (1.11, 1.13) respectively in both male and female-headed households in monsoon rice production. Results showed that the marginal productivity of sown areas, seed rate, fertilizer, family labor and hired labor for male-headed households were higher than those of female-headed households, while the marginal productivity of machinery used for female-headed households was higher than those of male-headed households. Institutional and cultural practices need to be allowed female households' heads to have equal access with productive resources and technological services to improve rural livelihoods. Adequate credit amounts should be made accessible for rice farming of both headed households through the creations of well-structured and functional rural agricultural microfinance institutions in the study areas
