2 p.For purposes of carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the Texas Water Development Board, as specified in the Texas Water Development Board Act of 1957 as amended by subsequent legislative acts, the following general policies are stated. It is the Board's view that population and economic growth of Texas will continue and that continued orderly development of Texas water resources to meet present and increasing future needs is imperative. In meeting the water requirements of the people of Texas, the Board recognizes that it is necessary to plan well so as to provide the necessary water resources while at the same time proper provision is made to protect the environment, in compliance with the Texas and national water laws and national environmental policy as expressed in the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972, the Water Resources Planning Act of 1965, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Water Resources Development Act of 1974.http://gbic.tamug.edu/request.ht
