Smart utilization of tertiary instructional modes

    No full text
This empirical research surveys first year tertiary business students across different campuses regarding their perceived views concerning traditional, blended and flexible instructional approaches. A structural equation modeling approach shows traditional instructional modes deliver lower levels of student-perceived learning quality, learning experience and learning skills. A combination of on-line and face-to-face learning approaches, embedded across each course, yields far higher levels of total learning effects, and to explain differences in instructional approaches, a ‘Cone of Learning’ continuum is presented and discussed. Theoretical and practical research implications, and the measurement, theoretical and management aspects of future research options are presented. Tertiary institutions can adopt the approaches herein to assist in the development and build of smart targeted learning solutions – ones more in-line with the perceived needs of their respective student year levels and groups

    The business customer alignment index

The alignment of a service business to its engaging customers is a customer precursor consideration prior to the completion of a business-customer exchange or transaction. We adopt an interface outwards approach to this conundrum, and build the solution into both the business and the customer domains. We establish an alignment index as a measure of the inherent connectivity between the business and its engaging customers. The business offers its back-end developed services as the chosen service solution set it expects 'should be' most appropriately aligned to its engaging customers. These business-engaging customers come to this business interaction site with a different set of 'will get' expectations. The degree of alignment between these different sets-of-expectations is measured on a '0' to '1' scale as a 'business-customer alignment index'

    Websites topology evaluation equation

Websites are typically evaluated using Likert measures which are subject to the vagaries of the analyst, whilst on-line site scanning comparison tools are invariably locked into a set of measurement comparison items. Our study builds a topology, and assesses the measures developed by others. We build these into three functional areas and build the ‘website evaluation equation’ around these functional areas. By breaking these functional areas into twenty seven subsets, and then into series of ‘on-or-off’ (present or absent) measures we can successfully measure and evaluate websites. We deploy over 200 measures in this process. The website may be evaluated from a three website evaluation equation function approach, or more finely by functional sub areas or each subarea’s objective measures. With our approach, subjectivity is removed, and the range of currently required objective measures is vastly increased. This website evaluation approach may be used as a triangulated benchmarking approach against competitors and can then further indicate where upgrading of the business website is most needed. Thus the business may be strategically repositioned

    China's BRI expansion approach: culture

    No full text
China's BRI global expansion approach is shifting the balance of trade away from western nation domination. China is repositioning itself as a major global trading powerhouse. Its six land belts and three maritime roads are interconnecting China initially with 64 countries representing around 30% of the global economy and 62% of its population. These BRI nations are undergoing a subtle, but definite acculturalization process that is delivering social, psychological, and cultural change. A BRI cultural research agenda to deliver cultural change across BRI partnering nations is framed. These cultural shifts towards China, the strategic infrastructure builds, financed largely by China, are set to create a new wave of China-supportive rapidly-developing nations into the future. Hence China’s global influence is likely to remain on the rise

The cone of learning: transitioning across learning systems

The Cone of Learning's three-dimensional, SEM-developed, learning continuum, houses Biggs (2003) 3P learning system. Migration from traditional towards flexible learning approaches can offer higher-levels of student learning experiences and student learning outcomes. Relative pathway strengths of teaching and student inputs onto student learning experiences and student learning outcomes are measurable

Growing the marketspace: driving the social media networks to websites

    No full text
The growth of on-line membership in social network sites (SNS) creates additional channels for collaboration and communication between marketers, social network members and business product/service transaction websites. Scant communication and interaction theory exists on how social network members can be drawn to market-specific websites. We explore such motivations and consumptions theoretically, and develop targeted on-line marketing approaches

BRI: Mining business big data qualities

    No full text
Digital data capture from a business' big data sources remains difficult, but techniques are emerging. This paper reviews, describes, and connects usable big data components as an ingredient towards delivering an understanding of the qualities a Chinese business may astutely utilize as they expand along China's Belt Road Initiative (BRI) pathway. It suggests digital data across the business, web and social domains can provide sorted text extracts through Hadoop MapReduce algorithms, and these outputs can be qualities grouped to deliver additional business understanding concerning the qualities they aim to deliver. Similarly, qualities aspects can also be linked to audio, video and image files - but often for slightly different purposes. Hence, text mining appears the most important big data link to business quality. A digital 4 stage 5 level big data digital qualities system then strategically frames a pathway for qualities outcomes for BRI business ventures
