    Structures of the conformational isomers and polymorph modifications of N-substituted 2,6-(E,E)-bis(ferrocenylidene)piperid-4-ones: photo- and electrochemically induced E/Z isomerization

    Four N-substituted 2,6-(E,E)-bis(ferrocenylidene)piperid-4-ones (NH 1, NMe 2, NEt 3, NCH2Ph 4) were prepared by aldol condensation between ferrocenecarbaldehyde and two equivalents of N-substituted piperid-4-ones with high yields. The N-protonated compounds were obtained by reaction with HBF4·Et2O acid. The molecular structures of compounds 2, 3, 2·HBF4 and 4·HBF4 were confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis and three types of conformational isomers were elucidated. Two polymorph modifications were found for compound 2·HBF4. The electron transfer properties of the complexes were examined by electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical techniques. Complexes 1-4 undergo a reversible process of two-electron oxidation and partially reversible one-electron reduction. The photo- and electrochemically induced E/Z isomerisation of the complexes was monitored by UV-vis and 1H NMR spectroscopy

    Problems of choosing optimal solutions for systems with random and non-random perturbations

    The problem of choosing an optimal solution in stochastic optimization problem containing both random perturbations with given distributions and nonrandom perturbations about which only the regions of their possible values are known. As a criterion of optimality, the quantile criterion is used, i.e. The objective function value guaranteed with some given probability is optimised. This problem is closely connected with the problem of the construction confidence estimates for a statistically uncertain random vector that is a random vector with an incompletely known distribution. A concept of the generalized confidence set is used for statistically uncertain vector, and its properties are studied. The quantile stochastic optimization problem under incomplete information is solved by means of an optimal choice of the generalized confidence region. © 2017 Author(s)

    Polymorphism rs2383207 of CDKN2B-AS and Susceptibility to Atherosclerosis: A Mini Review

    We conducted this meta-analysis to estimate associations between CDKN2B antisense (CDKN2B-AS) rs2383207 polymorphism and susceptibility to atherosclerosis. A systematic literature research of Google Scholar and PubMed was performed to identify eligible studies. Overall, eight studies were included for meta-analyses. The association was assessed by statistical odds’ ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (CI). RevMan software (Cochrane Collaboration, 5.3. Copenhagen) was used for the meta-analysis. Pooled overall analyses showed that rs2383207 polymorphism was associated with the risk of atherosclerosis in the whole population. Additional analyses by ethnicity revealed that rs2383207 polymorphism was associated with susceptibility to atherosclerosis in Asians and Caucasians. Our results suggest that rs2383207, might serve as genetic biomarkers of atherosclerosis. Further, studies will be required to confirm the observed association
